Dejan Lovren insists he deserves to be rated as one of the greatest defenders on the planet after helping Croatia to dump England out of the World Cup. The Liverpool defender will line up in Sunday's final against France after shining in Wednesday night's 2-1 win over Gareth Southgate's side after extra time. "It's something special for me," Lovren told beIN Sports. "From my point of view, people said I had a difficult season but I don't agree. "I took Liverpool to the final of the Champions League. Now with my national team we are in the final. "I think people should recognise that I am also one of the best defenders in the world and not just talk nonsense." Lovren admitted that Croatia were second best before they took control after the interval. "It was quite tough in the first half. We couldn't control the ball," he added. "They had some good chances but in the second half we did much better. We took spaces on the side and found some good crosses. "In extra time we showed that even with fatigue we were still able to play our game. "This is something that we will never forget. People are crying and are happy in our country now. This is something historical for us.
Ffs. Credit for getting to the final. But one of the best! What's he been smoking. Croatia along with England had an easy ride. Not their fault they weren't properly tested but ffs don't get ahead of yourself.
Credit where credits due. How does a crap defender (I think we all agree), get to a Champions league and world cup final in the same season
"I took Liverpool to the Champions League Final" All by himself. **** Salah we should be praising king Lovren.
He's never been a crap defender. Even when Mourinho puts allegedly #worldclass Bailly in front of #worldclass De Gea and with another 8 men defending in front of him he looks a liability. So expecting Lovren's mistakes to go unpunished in the most attacking team on the planet is unfair.
Never thought I'd support France in a sporting event, but the Croats are coming off as bad winners. No doubt the English media were getting ahead of themselves. But then to bad mouth your opposition, Vrsalijko, and then proclaim your the best defender in the world, Lovren, (I'd like to take him back to Wembley when he got raped by Kane). Even Modric's comments come off as rather salty and slightly bitter that the ENGLISH media weren't proclaiming Croatia as the world best team (they are ranked below England atm). No doubt the French media will be doing much the same as the English were. Humility in Victory goes along way.
Who is Salah? Is he on our team too? I onl6 remember Lovren out there... Salah must be a fringe player.
I appreciate his confidence. Shame he doesn't have that mentality when facing Saints! I don't mind his "I took Liverpool you a CL final" but tbh. All the players did and Lovren was obviously pay of that. I think some of the sentiment was lost in translation.
Lovratia, the greatest footballing nation on Earth. Spearheaded by Dejan Lovren of Lovrenpool, future recipient of the Lovllan d'or and future recipient of Goldvren boot.
Maybe this is Klopp's doing. Maybe he's been telling Lovren he's the greatest ever to get Dejan's confidence up but Jurgen never expected him to go full Lovren and tell the world...
If you do not blow your trumpet who's going to blow it for you ?.Lovern is absolutely right. His market value might go up, good news for Liverpool
please log in to view this image Jurgen; Who's this **** following us? Lovren; Dunno, but I'm ****ing brilliant!
