I'm happy to stand by him as I do believe he needs time to prove himself, so do the new players. We've basically made massive changes since Lennon left, Gordon, Denayer, Wakaso, Guidetti, Scepovic, Tonev, all new to Celtic. Apart from them MacGregor has come into the team and Johansen and others are still adapting to new roles. That was never going to work overnight, but I genuinely believe that having no real right back due to injuries has been our most pressing concern. I'm not blaming it all on big Efe but at times he's been like a man short. If Ronny's not top of the league before Xmas I think he's gone, i'm confident he and the players can turn it around though.
Johansen has been crap most of the time, he's the one that knows they system too. I would drop Johansen and get Henderson back in the side pronto.
Dont agree that johansen is ****e, but henderson shoukd get more games. ****s me off denayer and tonev/berget get game time while in loan over young kids we have. Not saying denayer aint good- he is clasd - but why are we developing a player for man city when we could develop o'connell
Give the the guy a ****in chance!!! this desperation to get into panic mode is gettin oan my titties!!! Now we have ****s like John Hartson saying "he doesn't have a clue what he is doing" is that right John!?!? Remind us where you managed again, ya prick!
And some of our own! The same ****s that said where is the competition, are probably the one's screaming that we should be skooshing the league by 30pts! I was there on sunday, I think there was 25 crosses into the box, from the fullbacks! can you think of a Tic manager who hasn't had days like that?
Everyone wants a competitive league. If two or three teams raised their level substantially and we didn't drop standards, then yes that's ideal and we could all enjoy an exciting league. But that's not the case ...
The teams we are facing aren't that good though. If they were decent fair enough but they aren't. You can't win every game. But there have been more ordinary days than good ones under Deila. It's not a one off. There has been no improvement in his time there imo. In fact every time I see them they get worse. he is a poor mans strachan imo. One dimensional and doesn't know how to adapt. But at least strachan was funny. Deilas a miserable ****
My point was that it doesn't matter how the league goes, there will be ****s amongst our support who will find reason to moan. I'd like to see the manager get the whole season to see what he can do, without this blind panic to sack the man after 8 league games.
Haven't read any of this thread but here's my take on it: Deila inherited a pile of s**te from Neil "cannae get a job" Lennon. Lennon recognised he'd signed a load of duds (with one or two exceptions but they pale into insignificance compared to the s**te that is Pukki, Balde et al) and knew the Board wasn't going to give him any more cash to blow so he f**ed off. We're now suffering the consequences of Lennon's failure to sign decent players. The fault doesn't lie at Deila's door. It lies with the Board and, to a lesser extent, Neil Lennon. We're a pretty poor team with a Board unwilling to invest money and the choice of manager reflects that. Deila was the cheap choice. The Board chose him because they wanted someone who would work on a shoestring budget. People need to accept that but the club also needs to understand that people shouldn't be charged hundreds of pounds to buy season tickets for a team that would struggle in the English Championship. I hate to be pessimistic but Scottish football is at death's door. The decline has been going on since Seville. Okay, there's been a few highs since then such as Celtic reaching the last 16 of the CL and Rangers reaching the UEFA Cup final but the general trend has been a downwards spiral for the Scottish game. Unless something radical happens over the next five years we're in danger of disappearing off the European radar in the same way Hungarian teams did during the 1970s (and have never recovered).
I don't blame the managers too much for the players, we were chasing Tonev before Lennon left and Gordon too. Seems to me our scouts are at fault. Scottish football is doing fine, the only people not enjoying it are Sevco and Us and its for the same reason: We expect much better We are just customers now so as long as we keep paying to see **** they'll keep producing it
