Brian Horton, a diamond of a geezer. I went to the postponed game at Colchester. Managed to get in the ground to have a look at the pitch, which was IMHO 95% playable. Brian Horton was standing with his back to me. I thought he was one of their ground staff. I said something on the lines of "Eh mate, why is the game off?" Brian turned around, smiled, gave me the SP on why the game was off, sympathised that a car load had travelled down for nothing and wished me well.
I’m no fan of Duffen, in fact I’m suspicious of anyone that wants to run a club However if you think that no other senior club figures cream a bit off, use their position for their advantage or use clever accounting to do better than those of us that just pay our tax when we work...then you’re deluded
****s Top Trumps Family perks? Let sons be mascots Gave Son the nod to rip the heart, body & soul out of the club.
I’d take Duffen over the Allams a million times out of a million. He “got” the special bond fans had with the club and his positive brand of PR is the polar opposite of Ehab’s **** show. Not everyone’s cup of tea I agree, and his departure threw up a shedload of questions with many still to be answered, but him or the Allams??...no brainer. Would also like to think the way it unravelled last time for him is a lesson he’d do well to refer to this time around.
13526... That's my predication of how large this post will be, before white smoke is seen ascending out of the KCOM...
This thread might be worth reading in January or whenever they've got their hands on the last parachute payment
Whoever the backers are if Duffen is behind the take over I hope in some ways it is not Chinese money, as they don't seem to be the best owners at getting success. Southhampton has been on the decline since the Chinese took a majority shareholding, W, Brom got relegated, Villa's Chinese owner had to get Middle East owners to invest as he was in the ****, Barnsley got relegated, & Reading is ****e, though it shows that they are Thai owned, I thought it was the brother and sister Chinese owners who were given the thumbs down by the EPL when trying to buy us who had a share in the club. I was never an admirer of how Duffers managed affairs at City should he be the one to run the club, but there is no doubt he just got carried away along with Browny and he did want the club to be successful, and maybe this time he will have learnt from his mistakes.
The current Chinese owners in the Premier League are at Southampton, Man City and Wolves. As Meatloaf said, two out of three aint bad.
