Indeed. Putin was properly rattled. They were digging trenches across the roads into Moscow. He is undoubtedly weakened by the happenings this weekend. The average Russian man or woman on the street has seen his strong-man image discredited. It also seems incredible that almost all of Russia's conventional military has been committed to the war in Ukraine. The impression they like to give is of vast reserves, millions of men and thousands of tanks. Like it was back in the days when they forced the Germans out and harried them all the way to Berlin. There was one tank in Red Square during the Victory day parades.
The BBC failed to report that. And I haven't seen it reported anywhere else either. If people were hurt and killed during the Wagner drive towards Moscow why would that news be suppressed?
All OK thanks, been keeping a low profile as there's not much to say about the takeover until it happens and we can see what's in front of us. Shame you never made it to mine but maybe catch you when you're visiting.
I have a spare room available, @Smudger603 can have the hammock. PS, I'll be over for the Barnsley home game, we could have a 606 meet up.
Red on Red military casualties. Granted they're still Human beings, but at least they aren't civilian bystanders or cops just trying to keep the peace. I hear Putin is contradicting himself every time he speaks now. He's actually incoherent...
Another own goal for Labour in Wales. They're going to ban 2 for 1 deals & other discounts on budget food in supermarkets. Are they not aware there is a cost of living crisis, and Wales has more than its fair share of families on the borders of absolute poverty? Desparate families at their wits end do not want to live on turnips and cabbage. Give them a break for pity's sake. This is a problem with Labour. They always want to manage every aspect of people's lives - for their own good of course.
It's cheap because it's full of sh1t. Our kids are getting smaller while in other countries they're getting taller- it's not because they're not eating- it's because they're eating lots of emulcifiers and chemicals which are bad for them. Not to mention the salt sugar and fat which bulks it out. And it contains addictive chemicals, so creating a craving, and an obesity epidemic. It's a national scandal, and the food industry needs regulating. It's not hard to guess why the government doesn't want to. There's been a lot of research gone into this. Sweden was able to cope without lockdown because they are healthier because of their lifestyle. There must be other ways of eating cheaply without poisoning your body.
Disgraceful, how are people meant to live? Energy bills soaring, people unable to eat, where will it all end?
I don't believe there is such a thing as cheap nutritious food in this country. Good food costs money. Only middle income families and the better off can afford it. People on the breadline have very little choice really. I tried living off own-brand budget food for a few weeks a couple of years ago. It was cheap alright, but it was grim. But if its all you can afford it beats starving or having to shoplift. I don't think the Welsh Government should take it away from poor people. Healthy eating, avoiding stress, decent accommodation, good education, good healthcare. All of these things are beyond the means of the poorest 50% of our population in this era.
Before I started to annoy the jolly folk of Brazil, we would normally shop in the Lidl in Locksbottom. Mrs Elfs is a fantastic cook and I never had any complaints with the food, however, we were selective. I'd not touch the fruit and vegetables as they were decidedly ropey. With an unlimited budget I would always go to M&S, they cannot be touched.
It's the cheap junk food which has the highest profit margin, why do you think the food industry promotes it so hard? They don't do BOGOF out of the kindness of their heart. There are plenty of people who are quite well off who are addicted to the chemicals in junk food, and always go for the cheap option. It amazes me. They never look at the list of ingredients on the packet. Next week our allotment site will be resuming it's weekly donations of fresh produce to the local church's foodbank, and what has also helped is that they are also giving cookery lessons, because with so many prepared meals available, not to mention deliveroo, the number of people who are capable of cooking from scratch is going down and down. It should be taught in schools as a priority. Jamie Oliver recently had an excellent series on ITV showing how to cook cheap nutritious food, and it really looked tasty. It can be done.
Last time I ate an M&S meal it was a Valentine's Day meal for two, and the whole lot came back up, so not a very romantic evening.
