So then, lets forget all that has gone before and look forward to THE BIG ONE, forget the also-ran's, Wimbledon is the greatest and most prestigous tournament of them all. Who do you guys think will do well and who will be the damp squib (I think we know the answer to that one!) will it be Nadal, Djokovic or even perhaps Federer - or is he past it now? What about the ladies? IMO Sharapova will win the ladies, I think she has re-emerged as the best in ladies' tennis right now as the Williams' sisters' era seems to be at an end and there doesn't seem to be anyone else with her consistancy or strength. As for the men I'm not sure, if Djokovic is at his best I think he will win it, for sure he will be out for revenge after his defeat in the French but I think it will be one of the two because Federer is now surely past his sell-by date. For an outsider I think Tsonga has a chance, more so than Andy Murray I'm sorry to say. Thoughts?
I still think Fed has one more Slam in him, but after watching his usually reliable Forehand disintegrate in the French, I'll go with Nadal. I have no interest in the woman's game as I think it's ****. No offence ST
Andy Murray having lost early at Queens moved on to an exibition match at the Boodles and lost again against the Serb Janko Tipsarevic.....Andy will be playing again on Thursday. If Murray gets to the quarter-finals at Wimbledon he will have done as well as his current form is showing.
It's all very depressing with Andy Murray right now. I heard on the radio he stated that winning tennis at the Olympics is as big a deal to him as winning a slam.....in your dreams Andy!
Murray drawn against Davydenko in the 1st round. IF he gets through that he could face Nadal in the semis.
Nikolay Davydenko for Murray in first round....hard match. If he wins it could then be Ivo Karlovic. He could then later meet David Ferrer.....who thumped him in Paris. Eventually running into Rafael Nadal. The way he is playing at present he could pencil in a holiday later next week.
Excellent 16 page supplement in todays Daily Telegraph Sports section......."Wimbledon 2012"....... with a very good map of the Wimbledon site pages 14/15
The Daily Telegraph Plym??? Who do you think you are? Not Distant??? Venus Williams is knocked OUT in the first round, Djokovic safely through Andy Murray is playing tomorrow and I will be at work listening on my personal radio, didn't bother today as I'm not bothered about Djokovic enough to give up my music for the afternoon
Federer cruised through too. Anyone know what time roughly Murray's due on court tomorrow? Nothing on the BBC.
Full of proper news Mrs LaLa........you just need to make sure the propaganda doesn't fool you........the red tops are just comic strips.........anyrate notDistant will probably never read this..........heh...heh...heh.....chuckle.....chuckle.......chuckle.......your tennis mates will have no idea what we are talking about.
Cheers lala. Should be home in time to catch it. Here's hoping he puts his recent bad form behind him and has a good tournament. I know you English could do with a lift after crashing out of Euro 2012
I read local for my daily Plym except for Fridays (shopping day) when I pick up the "i". Red tops aren't even fit to line Beau's cage with....unless there is the odd pic of Camilla Parker Bowels (spelling intentional) or Wayne Rooney which would be strategically placed under the most often used perch Murray currently playing well - long may that last. I had to laugh, on last night's news they asked a couple of tennis fans at Wimbledon how they thought AM would do in the championships and one guy said "about as well as the England side did in the Euros" Hope he's wrong!
Andy always plays well when he SERVES WELL which he did today in abundance - through in straight sets with no real threat from Davydenko. More of the same please!
Andy Murray very convincing winner today........but I didn't realize that he was playing Matt Dawson.........Davydenko and Dawson are twins surely. The "I" offshoot of the Independent I believe........only 20p............you look after your pennies Mrs LaLa.
I have to confess I fell asleep at the end of the first set and didn't wake up till about five minutes to go in the 3rd In my defense, I have been up since 5.30am and the weather is so dark and gloomy in Edinburgh that I just couldn't keep my eyes open. ps I don't buy newspapers but I do like to borrow a Daily Mail so I can do the crossword.
That's no excuse Sterio, I get up at 5.15 5days a week and it's been as dull as ditchwater here all day - week even...and you're even tighter than me
