    Yeah I mean it's because in the late 1800's the Americans almost wiped them out and stole almost all their land, forcibly removed them and force marched them to reservations etc.

    I don't think (to my knowledge) Indians is offensive, but having a consultation seems the right way to do it if they're in any doubt. Then if they keep it, good. I don't think Indians, Braves, Chiefs, Blackhawks, Seminoles or anyone else is anywhere near 'Redskin'.
