Norwich City v Swansea City Competition - Sky Bet Championship Date - 8 March 2019 Kick off - 19.45 Venue - Carrow Road Following their 2-0 win over relegation threatened Bolton, next up for Graham Potter’s Swansea squad is a visit to top of the table Norwich City. The Swans denied nine-man Bolton a precious point in their fight against Championship relegation by scoring two late goals for a hard-earned 2-0 victory. The Swans dominated but missed a first-half penalty as McBurnie saw his spot-kick saved by Remi Matthews. Bolton's former Bluebird Craig Noone was sent off for a second booking before the break and, in the second half, the visitors were down to nine men as captain David Wheater was red-carded for bringing down Wayne Routledge as he looked to have a clear run at goal. Swansea cranked up the pressure in the closing stages and eventually broke Bolton's admirable resistance as McBurnie pounced from close range before substitute Bersant Celina swept in a third in added time. Victory left the Swans 13th in the Championship - seven points away from the play-off places. Whilst the Swans were beating Bolton, Norwich City were restoring their two-point lead at the top of the Championship with victory at struggling Millwall. After early pressure from the hosts, the Canaries went ahead in the 16th minute when Marco Stiepermann was on hand to turn in the rebound after Jordan Archer saved Onel Hernandez's effort. But the Lions levelled on the stroke of half-time when Steve Morison cleverly flicked on a corner and Shaun Williams headed in off the upright. Norwich skipper Christoph Zimmermann restored Norwich's lead with a powerful header from a corner and top scorer Teemu Pukki wrapped things up with a fine finish after being played through on goal by Emi Buendia. The Swans and Norwich have met on 55 occasions previously, with the Swans winning 23, losing 22 and drawing 10. In the reverse fixture at the Liberty, Norwich - the best side I’ve seen at the Liberty this season - ran our comfortable 4-1 winners. Turning to Friday evening, I can’t see anything other than a Norwich victory to level the overall match series at 23 each. 4-1 again to Norwich
I agree with Aswan, park the bus. If we play an open game they’ll rip us to shreds in front of a TV audience. Prediction: We’ll try a play football and lose 3-0
I'm only advocating it as a one-off, not standard practice. After all, I need another point from somewhere for the prediction league
Wrong attitude admitting we are going to lose before we kick a ball. What is the point of that....We can be as good as anyone on the day and we are capable of beating anyone. I hope potter selects a strong side and go for the win and believe they can win or there is no point in turning up....If we lose then we will lose trying and not admitting defeat before the game.....
It’s not admitting we’re going to lose. It’s an attempt to get a draw against a team that’s superior to you. Many top football managers use the tactic when they need to.
