Thanks again to Bure and bengaluru for amassing the points required to put - and keep us on top of the league So Tuesday sees the team at the summit (43 points) entertain the side in 19th place with 20 points from their 21 games. The head to head reads won - 49, drawn - 35, lost - 41 and in our last season in this division we doubled them, 4 - 0 at home, 0 - 1 at fortress Loftus. Team news to follow but great to see Rupp, Gibson and Dowell back in contention. Let's hope we can shake off that Boxing Day hangover.
Gibson has to start. At Watford our complete back four were right footers. No sure if Xavi is in contention for a starting berth
On the face of it, this is an ideal fixture to bounce back strongly from defeat at Watford. QPR are 19th in the table, 23rd in the form table, with 1 win in their last 10 games and only 4 all season (Derby, Rotherham, Cardiff, Forest). Only Preston have conceded more goals than them. Really hope we can put in a strong performance, be good to see us win a game by more than 1 goal. Still can't shake that "along come Norwich" feeling though, imagining QPR finding new defensive solidity and a set piece goal to get a 1-0 win.
QPR have been leaking goals and lots of fans have been calling for Mark Warburton’s head. In the last 22 games they have only won 3 and conceded 32 times. In the last eight games, they have had zero wins, conceded twelve goals and scored just three. Surely it will be a walk in the park….this is Norwich though and this is the Championship so I doubt it. Even allowing for every cliche about there being no easy games in this division, anyone can beat anyone on their day etc. we really can’t be any worse at the moment. Can’t defend, can’t attack and the only player who might have hurt you has been dropped and likely to leave in January. Hope Hugill plays as it sounds like he needs a couple of goals.
Team News: No new fitness worries since Boxing Day, likely to be the same squad. Placheta, Krul, Sam Byram,Onel Hernandez, Marco Stiepermann, Bali Mumba and Adam Idah are all still absent. Wouldn't be surprised to see things unchanged, Dowell clearly needs the minutes.
Dowell not quite ready and probably shouldn't have started last game. Zimbo on the left? Is that to give Jacob more help on that side because Handily likes to get forward more than Zimm?
Hope Vrancic has a good game, stage is well set for him, with ideal players around him. If he can't have an impact in this scenario, struggling to see how he'll be anything other than third in the pecking order once Dowell and Stiepermann are fully fit.
