Nor am I Rob. It's the same game after game; teams hunt the ball in packs in a way that we don't. Maybe because we haven't the fitness levels to do it?
That was pretty much as bad as it gets. A nice little warm up for next seasons opener against Bristol City.
Your team was playing to the same noise . I have hoped from the start of the season that you stay up. , but your post seems a bit like sour grapes to me .
After last night's gutless performance, I think 'fish in a barrel' is more appropriate, SA. Saddest of all was to see our conviction and belief drop off the more yours grew. Not the recipe required for a team bottom with just eight games left to play.
I think lots of people under rate Hanley's influence on the pitch. Listening to Farke's post match interview especially towards the end, I get the feeling Farke doesn't. Klose / Godfrey partnership isn't a great one for me. I like both players, but think each would play better with a Hanley or Zimmermann type character beside them.
I was excited to see the two together because on paper they would seem our best pairing. But they really didn’t click. I still think, though, the issue was our formation and our aggression in midfield. Hassenhuttel or whatever he’s called used that word “aggression” in his interview and I keep hearing it from other managers - they’ve realised we can be bullied. And when that’s by a team like Southampton who aren’t exactly brutish and play nice football, if you’re getting bullied in midfield as well you really are going to struggle. Keane was really rude about us, but I can’t complain too hard - we could have done with a player of his passion in the centre of the pitch.
People can go on bewailing injuries to our CBs as much as they like, but that's not why we lost last night, and it's not why we are seven points adrift at the bottom of the league. You would think being reduced to 2 CBs, one of whom hadn't started a league game for eighteen months, would mean Tettey would be a banker for selection. But no. Post-match DF kept commenting on the performance reflecting having "so may offensive players" on the pitch. Who put them on the pitch, and why?
Undoubtedly, that was a massive blow. But maybe that hurt can be used in the upcoming games. Farke needs to get everyone on the same page, be as unpleasant as possible in the next one and see if you can get a little spring board. Do not give up on anything, any loose ball or 50/50. The first 20 mins last night looked like one team had been training, and the other had been on the beach, but as we grew into the game, you faded badly, and then heads dropped. Don't be too despondent though, when we execute the hunt in pack tactic well, we are rather good at it, especially with Ings in beast mode. God knows what that lad has been doing to his fitness, but seeing him chasing back to defend in the 75th minute gave me palpitations! Playing football the right way, and showing it can be done while also being financially viable has won you a lot of friends, all the while dealing with one can only be described as CB armageddon of injuries. Keep fighting.
Needless to say, GG was left extremely underwhelmed - along with the rest of us. https://norwichcity.myfootballwrite...ampaign=no-fans-no-fire-little-pride-any-hope
