I agree He is not as good as Zimmermann or Klose so should make way when they recover fully. He tried his best but the OWN GOAL a few minutes into our season gave us an insurmountable mountain to climb. He vastly improved against Newcastle but was at fault for losing our clean sheet late on . Godfrey having a rush of blood and leaving his "zone" left Grant exposed even the last one from distance was a nutmeg . Tim could of saved that tbf I'm expecting Klose to partner God next game
It's worth remembering who we've been playing. Liverpool were lucky for their first two goals but we did better against them than most teams last season. We dominated Newcastle and ran Chelsea close. The performance levels have been good and we look at home in the PL so far. Let's remember the positives as well, like 6 goals in 3 games thanks to Pukki and Cantwell, both of whom have been a revelation so far.
We must concede less goals to make our goals for tally mean something. Just play the best 11 when fit is what I'm saying .

I'm starting to think that it maybe worth giving someone else a go in Stiepermann's position, but I'm not convinced we have anyone that can play the role quiet the way does to the same standard. If we play someone else in his position I think we'd have to tweek things elsewhwere and I'm not convinced its worth the risk. Maybe start him at West Ham and change at half time if things aren't going our way.
An interesting theory on Liverpool being lucky for their first two goals, certainly the OG had a degree of fortune about it. But I also started to think that Teemu had a degree of luck attached to his goals. That they kept coming began to weaken this theory. Saturday's against Chelsea seemed pretty impossible from that angle but it deflected into the far side netting. I reckon that the Xg calculation would not have rated that shot as having much more than a 10% chance of finding the net, yet he keeps doing it. I remember a player in the 70's writing about the role of luck in the life of a professional footballer. I can't recall his name but he played for someone up north like Sheffield U or Newcastle.
Agreed. I also think to change a team just because it lost to Chelsea and Liverpool (even without beating Newcastle) sends an odd message. I’m not averse to mixing up the formation, but I do think it needs to happen when appropriate and given who we’ve faced so far there should be no panicking
