With 9 games coming in the next 6 weeks, the Arsenal game becomes crucial to building up momentum. Hopefully we're through the worst of the injury crisis now. As Tim Krul comments: "No disrespect to the boys that stepped in before but they were midfielders, they did a job for us. It's such an amazing league but it's unforgiving, you can't play players out of position constantly and we felt that. But there had been a real good buzz the last few days and the way the manager set us up is a massive plus to him, we were more solid. To have Alex Tettey and Tom Trybull, literally there was not much coming through there, and Sam Byram again, what a game he had." Another worry is that Aarons is walking a tightrope on yellow cards. Hopefully Lewis will be fit again soon.
Well you can't accuse Farke of only playing his countrymen, he has shown faith with 3 English boys in our back 4 and Cantwell up top on merit . More Englishmen than Germans in Saturday's starting line up , really chuffed Sir Beny got his first Premier league goal I think most of us had written him off at this level before the season started. The Everton game has clearly lifted the mood amongst the canary faithful long may it continue.
Yes, Heise is another LB option of course, and any suspension would only be for one game, but it would mean yet another back four line-up.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! https://www.arsenal.com/news/unai-emery-leaves-club We have asked Freddie Ljungberg to take responsibility for the first team as interim head coach. We have full confidence in Freddie to take us forward. The search for a new head coach is underway and we will make a further announcement when that process is complete.
Damn, beat me to it. Speculation I saw earlier suggested Ljundberg in temporary charge. As a coach in the set up already could go either way. Knows the players and has an imediate idea of how to spark a reaction or hopefully, continuation of the malais. Could be someone else entirely mind! Bah!
More like a minimum of three transfer windows I'd say. But they will now be up for Sunday and with Ljungberg in charge I would expect them to get the ball forward much more quickly than under Emery. Probably -- if injuries allow -- they'll also go to three at the back, so 3:5:2 with Ozil at 10 and Aubameyang and Lacazette up front. Dangerous but porous -- remind you of anyone? We should set up as we did against Everton and hit them on the break.
Unfortunately Tettey isn't available for family reasons. Presumably Amadou will take his place beside Trybull and we'll at last see him in his preferred position with McLean once again the playmaker feeding the attacking players and dropping back when the ball is lost. Lewis could be available but I'd prefer not to risk him with two important games next week against the Saints and Blades. Let's try playing the same back 4 two weeks running.
WhoScored's assessment of the match: Norwich ended a seven-match winless run at Everton last weekend and they'll look to claim another scalp when they welcome Arsenal to Carrow Road. The Canaries have lost three on the bounce on home turf, however. Arsenal made the decision to sack Unai Emery on Friday after a 2-1 home loss to Eintracht Frankfurt, that in itself extending their winless run in all competitions to seven matches. The Gunners have won only once in their eight away matches, but the appointment of Freddie Ljungberg in an interim capacity will prove a boost. That said, Norwich have what it takes to claim at least a point from Sunday's match. Prediction: 2-2
It would be great to see Amadou in his role of choice and to see whether his purported 9m price tag is cheap at half the price. Agree that Byram should keep his place - the back 4 feels more balanced with him there - no disrespect to Lewis, but his marauding runs often leave us with our pants down. Looking forward to seeing how Farke sets us up.
