Not606 End of Season Awards 2012/2013

With voting now underway for the Official Saints Votes and with nothing really left to play for, I thought we could have our own little thread, similar to that of last year, and post the results on the same night as the Awards Ceremony at the end of the season.

After checking, the Awards Ceremony at St. Marys is on the night of Tuesday 14th May, so I shall post final results that night.

This is just a bit of fun, but no stupid suggestions please!!

Most Improved Player of the Season: Really had to think long and hard on this one, but I'm going to go for.....Rickie Lambert. He just keeps on improving. Would have gone for Puncheon but he's faded away a bit after a very good start to the season. I nearly went for Cork and considered Morgan but I'm restricting awards to one per player.

Signing of the Season: Artur Boruc

Goal of the Season: Rickie Lambert v Chelsea

Match of the Season: Southampton v Manchester United (despite the result, a really good game to watch).

 

How can he be most improved. Unless you were constantly watching Burnley last season you don't know how he played compared to this season!

I have to go with the same as Joe, all fairly easy to pick for me.

Considering we have scored 47 goals there haven't been very many good ones!

 

To Saints Fan4Life and the question about whether it's too early to pop the thread up - not at all, I'm even quite happy to Sticky the thing for you. I'll post my own choices later. Cheers

 

There have been actually. We've had quite a few of those one touch passes where we've passed our way through a defence and then someone sticks it in the net. Plus Puncheon v QPR, Lambert v Man City on opening day.

Very true, I almost went with Rodriguez against Chelsea for that very reason, I guess I meant spectacular screamers!

 

Who cares about long range screamers, I think I prefer goals like Rodriguez against Chelsea anyway. Oh and his goal in the FA Cup. That was a good goal as well.

Most Improve Player of the Season: Most improved from last season I'd probably give to Puncheon, most improved as the season has gone on would be Rodriguez
Signing of the Season: I love the signings of JRod, Boruc, Davis and Ramirez but I'll give some love to Clyne... 'Plug and play.'
Goal of the Season: Rickie's free kick vs. Chelsea hands down for me, but technically speaking really loved Punch's effort at Stamford Bridge and in terms of pure elation Rickie's against City was pretty monumental.
Match of the Season: Saints 3-1 City, didn't quite get the accolades we deserved but personally still loved it.

Most Improve Player of the Season: Shaw. Perhaps I'm wrong and he would've been an elite Prem left back as a 16 year old, but I kinda doubt it.
Signing of the Season: Artur Boruc.
Goal of the Season: Puncheon's volley against Chelsea.
Match of the Season: Man U 3-2 Saints. We might have lost, but what a game. The City/Liverpool wins were almost too comfortable to list here.

Rodriguez being voted as the most improved player of the season makes me think there's some disparity between definitions. Though, I suppose Rodriguez has been infinitely better for us this year than he was last year.
