For various reasons last week was first time I had been able to watch us this season and must say I thought Clucas was by some way the best midfield player. Huddlestone and Diame were virtually non existent in first 20 minutes (and not much better for the rest of the game) and it was only when Clucas was pulled in to help a bit that we started to get a hold of the game. Thought he looked a really bright and energetic player, but he doesn't seem to be getting a lot of encouragement on here. Delighted though I am to see Jakey back, if we return to a midfield run (or not run ) by Hudds and Jake, we are back to the same problem we have had for about 18 months.
I like Chazs team. It's good to have competition, and options. Clucas has been a catalyst for the energy, but it's about the room for everyone in the team. If Jake gets he nod then it's down to whether Brice wants two lots of energy or retain a more skilful if slower player. It's not a lack of love for him, more fitting everyone in. The new kids don't yet have the luxury of reputation.
Like you I have been very impressed with Clucas, he certainly looks better when he plays more centrally. Though if Livermore is starting, will be interesting to see who drops out.
I assume it must be with Maloney on the left and Diame pushed a bit further forward. I quite like the idea, only thing that worries me is Odubajo and Elmo together, it hasn't worked so far this season and I don't see that changing.
De Vries, Lichaj, Mills, Hobbs, Pinillos, Mancienne, Lansbury (c), Vaughan, Mendes, O'Grady, Oliveira Phew. No Lloyd or Kenny Burns, Abel woulda **** himself literally against them two. Does Lansbury play wide right? I'm concerned with Clucas there.
