The good news to come ot of a disasterous night at Elland Road is that NP has suggested that he will now look at getting in another striker. We definitely need one because up front we have quantity but little quality. Fryatt is the pick of the bunch but we lack a really threatening striker. If lasts night's result means we get that player then it could be a blessing in disguise.
I think that he's looking for players in several positions, it could be a busy end to the window for us!
Mcclean was really good last night, his best performance yet in a City shirt. I'd be tempted to give them 2 a go again from the start. When we paired them last season we were certainly always a threat even if Mcclean didnt hit the net much.
His best performance by a long shot in a City shirt last night, looked hungry and showed that his key skill is getting onto the end of crosses. But for so long we refused to get them in there, if it wasn't for Lonergan he would of opened his City account.
...for the season, and it looked like his header hit the post from where I was stood (1st row of upper part, right in the corner) And if we're looking for a new striker, fairly cheap (£1.5m max) who would add goals to our team. Who is there to buy?
Le Fondre is brilliant. Ive been saying for 2 and a half years that he could play in the Championship and we'd get him for 750k. He is actually as good as the hype suggested Lee Trundle was. I honestly think he's probably the best perm signing we could attract.
1.5M is not exactly cheap though.... do we have that to spend? I doubt we have anymore than 800k to spend which is waht we would have spent on Ayala. We forget Le Fondre has not proved it at League One, never mind our level..... Mclean's was saved looking at replays, and it went for a corner..... and i thought it was saved and think i was in same tier.....
We won't get a proven Championship goal scorer for £800K, time for a gamble ? Alternatively we can sit and wait with the strikers we currently have...
I agree, but what if we gamble and get it wrong? Does more pressure fall on NP? We don't have the money to get a proven striker, we either look down a couple divisions or get another loan in. And lets be honest the pressure that player will be under will be enormous and he his chances of succeeding are not that high.
AGREED. SNIP AT THAT PRICE AND IS GOOD IN THE BOX. Does not matter which league you come from if you are good enough. Many a great goal scorer has come from the lower leagues. IAN RUSH KEVIN KEEGAN are just 2 examples. City could get a few in soon when the PL squad lists go in. The KC could well be a revolving door soon. Ditch the ones who simply dont care.
Well, if we want someone who can get 15+ goals a season we'll have to pay around that much. I suppose we could have a punt on Le Fondre but what what if that goes wrong and he fails, who gets the goals then? Fryatt possibly but he is abit hit and miss. On McLean's header, I think I was at a deceiving angle...
Anybody tempted Matty derbyshire back to England? We should of got him before he went to Greece! I was ranting for ages for us to get Maynard before he left crewe we missed that one too!! Le Fondre would be a gamble but hey ho lets gamble!
