Well that's fair enough . I just think people are becoming more lazy and getting out and physically doing it is a better way. I mean some people stick their jim jams on on a Friday night and don't get changed all weekend
Great timing on this thread, I am expecting my new laptop delivered tomorrow. I hope it goes fine, it's with UPS!
What if you can buy it for 40% less online ? I bought my last PC online, I went to a number of high street retailers & then checked online where I found the one I wanted £270 cheaper than at any of the high street shops, I gave them the chance to price match but they couldn't/wouldn't so I bought online with free 24 hour delivery & when it arrive I found they had also given me a free 5 year warranty. I don't grocery shop or clothes shop online, but for other things if cheaper online then they get my business !!
I've had 2 overnight deliveries from UPS this month, both perfect, have to agree about Yodel though, terrible, they once delivered me a parcel by throwing it over the back gate into my garden !! Not a small item either & fragile, thankfully well wrapped inside
Yodel have some really terrible reviews if you search around on the internet. You're not the first (nor the last). Avoid if possible.
Because some people have jobs and young children which means going to the shops simply isn't practical. We do all our grocery shopping online firstly we can afford it and when we both have jobs that mean we travel a lot - it's convenient. Your post makes me think you're 18 with no one else to think about than yourself.
People had kids and busy lives before we had internet shopping. I think it makes people more lazy and I wish I was 18 My main point is that you could pop down the shops and buy something in less than 3 hours instead of waiting in and it doesn't arrive which takes up more of your time. I find that infuriating
Yodel are terrible - had a parcel delivered to work thrown through the front door rather than walk 10 feet to the manned reception - receptionist rang to say it hadn't arrived so the company sent another the next day and Yodel did the same with that one. Found DPD to be great even rang me to say they would be earlier than my 40 minute time slot if that was OK with me - every time they have delivered it has been exactly when they said it would be
People also had the choice of more independent shops on their doorstep before the arrival of supermarkets. As my wife works primarily in Edinburgh and I work all over the UK, but we live in East Yorks. Most of the rest of the time is spent ferrying our children around as we'd prefer them to have an active life rather than drag them around a supermarket. We are always in for grocery deliveries as we book late slots when the kids are in bed.
Sorry, but I think that shopping is great. You simply have to embrace the experience. Explore new stores together, experimenting with new foods, talking over food choice. You need to find your inner fish counter. Be at one with the 3 bottles for a tenner wine offers. Grow to love your supermarket and live life to the full.
That's creative, but also not true. I can think of a million and one things better to do than shopping. Why spend wasted time walking around a supermarket with the great unwashed - when for a small fee, you provide employment to the order picker and the delivery driver.
DHL, because one of their trucks hit me at 50 mph going through South Cave and nearly killed me and my friend, writing off my first car in the process.
Soon there won't be those high street shops for you to go and find out which laptop you wanted and you'll have to shop from the written descriptions online and hope for the best. Supermarkets are convenient, but they've killed off specialist retailers that offered a much better product, you only have to visit any town/city in continental Europe to see how limited for choice we really are now. City centres should be vibrant places, full of niche retail, restaurants and bars, but they're not(particularly not here), they're just full of store groups, bookies and pound shops. I think it's a crying shame that people have no desire to support their local high street and I believe that in time, it's something they will come to regret.
Market Weighton is awful now, has lost what character it had. Though I live near Pock now and my daughter has been in Pock for 18 years and has built up 2 successful business there. What helps Pock is the parking, you can usually get a spot outside shops, which encourages people to shop locally.
I don't use internet shopping for the sake of it. I buy a lot of clothes online because Hull doesn't have what I'm usually looking for. I've had two deliveries by Yodel in the last week and and one due today. No problems so far. I wouldn't use them by choice though.
