I understand the context, but also the inference, in your own words, that Hamilton was "gifted" the title in 2008, which I don't agree with. I don't play the role playing games you are parodying, so perhaps some subtle insight has escaped me. But there seemed to be a subtext to me that I took issue with. If this is not the case then feel free to correct me but there is no need to be so unpleasantly patronising.
Isn't part of the BBC mandate to be prepared to produce high quality work where nobody else will, even if it's less popular? There's plenty of gutter press coverage of F1 already, I don't understand why they feel the need to produce more? It's not like they're trying to gain viewers for their TV programming any longer... Discussing strategy, technological developments, etc can all be done without video footage, and would be much more rewarding to read than gushing praise of a Hamilton drive we can't watch on their site. I also don't see why the BBC continue to focus exclusively on F1, when other series are on the up and have comparatively little mainstream coverage. WEC and Formula E are the obvious examples, but I think they'd be pleasantly surprised at the audience they could get for Super formula, at least a quarter of the drivers there are familiar to F1 fans. I suspect the rights to some of those series would be a lot cheaper than they pay for other sports too. Currently their coverage seems to extend to who won Le Mans and the Indy 500.
It wasn't my intention to patronise, let alone unpleasantly, so apologies if I've offended you. As for explaining my jokes, I think someone famously highlighted this as a fruitless exercise, as such, I think we should just drop the topic.
I don't think it's quite that simple- I think the chassis is fine in high speed corners and that almost everything relates back to power. My personal opinion is that their engine and driveability is awful in slow to medium corners. I believe personally just from watching them, that's where Renault have made big strides. all the talk about top speeds is irrelevant it's average or overall speed that really matters and just looking at the McLaren, it doesn't have the same grunt or purchase out of the slow corners as the others. It's just an absolute **** heap of an engine they have and Honda need to make giant strides in all areas. The Barcelona flowing corners saw McLaren in its best light (sector 3) so the chassis is decent enough, but Monaco is not as simple as a direct correlation with Barcelona sector 3 and hence their bold predictions were way off.
Their Bold Predictions are, to me, part off the problem. Why do McHonda keep making these bold predictions when time and again they have been shown to be wrong? They seem to be further damaging their reputation. They need to keep quiet and let the results speak for themselves. I have no problem with the way Honda are learning and not just buying people who know how to build a good Power Unit. Always better to have a full understanding of how the technology works as you can then apply this knowledge and the principals behind it to your road car engines. To me the problem is the limit on the number of engines they are allowed to use each season. In theory they can only bring 4 different sec engines once they start the season on engine 1. So if they get it wrong it doesn't just destroy 1 race but maybe 5 races! Next year will be the same. While the token system goes next year they still have a limited number of engines. Then again it does amaze me that dyno technology can't replicate track conditions well enough to prove modifications. I have not worked on dynos for a good 20 years but with computing power advancements and mathematical modelling I am surprised it is taking this long for Honda to catch up with the other PUs.
I wonder if Max damaged his steering rod in practice when he clipped the barrier by the casino? I haven't see a replay early enough to see if he hit the barrier by the swimming pool and broke steering or steering broke which put him in to barrier?
I would have thought so but you never know I wouldn't mind betting Red Bull will say crash was faulty component to 'protect' max and their decision to put him in the car.
Yeah he hit the barrier near the swimming pool section first. He has been cutting it fine all weekend.
Seemed like a small impact and not in the direction I would have thought that would damage steering link.
Andrew Benson Engine problem for Hamilton. He just can't catch a break this season https://t.co/MSDOxpTihL
