Yes in the home of the brand next week Orlando City play New York City, live on Sky next Sunday, you stupid bastard Allam. Anyway I had a mooch on their website and saw this http://www.orlandocitysc.com/fans
That was odd I will try again Anyway back in the real world, Orlando City have capped season ticket sales at 14,000 because they are moving into a new stadium, with safe standing no less. And they have sold over 13,000, impressive http://www.orlandocitysc.com/stadium
The drums and stuff aren't my cup of tea, but it shows what an be done for relatively little effort, provided the will is there and the right people are properly consulted with.
Wonder if they will get an owner who is a marketing genius with a CV which makes his decisions unquestionable who will decide City is common and the way forward is to bring in money from Africa by rebranding them Orlando Lions instead of them being Orlando City,The Lions.
Reminds me of when there was a discussion about building a theme park on the cliff tops near Brid and a local councillor said it would have to be looked at carefully as they didn't want any Mickey Mouse type development. Spoiling the cliff tops would have been a terrible idea but if you were going to then a Mickey Mouse type of thing would be the way to go in that particular field.
I think every MLS team has drums. Even the worst MLS teams have really impressive support. The local team here has sold out there season tickets (14,000) which I think is the maximum number available for their stadium size as so many have to be available for single purchase. They charge enough to be part of their group that they have a new giant banner every other game it seems plus tons of small banners and flags. http://www.1906ultras.com/
It might be their first game but this is still mighty impressive for the yanks supporting football sorry soccer http://www.orlandosentinel.com/spor...o-city-sells-out-mls-debut-20150302-post.html
The official City twitter page follows Orlando City, Detroit Tigers and Florida Panthers. Found that a bit odd.
I binned the City twitter and facebook pages when they changed to Hull Tigers ( spit ) The USA will win the World Cup before England will win it again
Why is it odd? Because they follow themselves? Detroit are a baseball team & Florida are an ice hockey team.
The twitter page is still called 'Hull City Official', the only one that hasn't yet changed I believe.
It's odd because the Hull City twitter page follows 210 people/pages, all of which are either ex-players or other domestic clubs, with the exception of the aforementioned three.
I've got a request in for a MLS board. Hope we get it in time for the start of the season. Haway DC! If any mods on here are interested perhaps they could push it a bit on the mod board or could give me an update of when we're getting one?
Our mod put a request in a few weeks ago. Are you from DC? I worked there for 6 years and went to a university just down the street.
No mate, I'm from Bishop Auckland. Decided this season I was going to follow MLS more closely so I decided to pick a team, so went with DC because of their partnership with Sunderland. Seemed the logical choice what with the partnership George Washington links to the Area. Never been to States. what's it like? If I went with our lass it would have to be Florida on a horticulture holiday. Hope the board is up and running for kick off.
I'm guessing the board won't be, last I heard our mod wasn't getting much of a response from the request. George Washington lived in Virginia, not DC. DC? It sucks, everyone that lives there hates it, the people are the freaking worst. It's a place that's all about who you know on the hill. Most people move there after college and then leave after a few years, it's a very transient city. It's a fine place to visit though as a tourist. DC United plays in the worst stadium (an old falling down decrepate NFL stadium) it holds like 70,000 but they only sell the first level so even a sell out makes it look like they have only sold like 25% of the seats. DC also has some of the worst support in the MLS ( other sports to, it's a problem with it being a transient city). I've been to a few games there and the experience was horrible.
