Inept and clueless. The worst Welsh team this century. Not sure where they go from here, I really expected more today.
“Louis Rees-Zammit has reportedly signed for the Kansas City Chiefs through the NFL’s International Player Pathway Programme. Details to be confirmed but it looks like a 7 figure contract. Quitting rugby (sadly missed by Wales and Gloucester) and pursuing a career in the NFL, a dream from when he was a youngster. It was a move that shocked the rugby community. At 22 and a rugby career mapped out to make 100+ caps (injury free permitting), it takes a lot of guts, mental attitude and sacrifice to move away from your status quo with the hope of being successful in a completely different field. Appreciation and credit to LRZ for following a dream and a move that is looking like it will pay off.”
That’s hell of move for him, signing for the Super Bowl champions. They must rate him for them to sign him.
Well, they’ve signed him for their Summer Camp then it’s up to the coach if he makes their 53 man squad. Apparently he could be a wide receiver or a running back. The Chiefs must recognise that he is not ‘fazed’ by playing in front of 70,000+ crowds and is used to playing with elite athletes, albeit in a different sport. I dare say also that they may think that there’s a huge marketing opportunity meaning that the financial risk is reduced, even possibly a net financial gain, from the (worldwide) interest to be generated by LRZ - sponsorship and advertising revenue from ‘different’ sources. I’d say that it’s a fantastic opportunity for LRZ and a ‘considered’ risk for the Chiefs with many mitigating factors
