Just browsing through the news and spotted this on the BBC. I'm 'up to date' on many things, but the rate at which the Chinese are Illegally claiming and building on coral islands in the South China Sea is a tad worrying:

    http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-35031313

If they man these as military posts, I'd be a bit worried down in SE Asia - and not just in terms of damage to existing coral/sea life. They really don't give a ****, do they.

What's to worry about? Chinese will do what they want with the environment until they wipe out the entire planet. It's inevitable. We just need to accept it and wish our future generations the best of luck with it. Nowt we can do.

All the best to him with that. They're a scary entity them lot, sheer size and population alone makes them something not to be ****ed with.

I was reading somewhere recently, they have a 2 million strong army..

    With 24 million reservists.. What..!!

Still, I bet they wouldn't pick a fight with either Russia or the US..

Depends init. They've got the population and the space to overload anybodies nuclear defense system, especially with them both being in range. their army could waltz through Alaska and Canada with ease to advance on the us and russia boarder them directly. I think they could easy take both. Just don't think they'd want or need to. No, I think they'll kill us all slowly burning coal and raising cattle and wiping out earths resources.

They have tried so many times in the past and failed miserably with the same numbers as what they have now..

Putin is a very wise man, they have tied their connections solidly with China over the last few years and a lot since Obama has been in the Whitehouse..

As for Chinese people, I like them and just love their women, sexy, acute and very very bonny but you do need to shop around <laugh>

A beef chow mein and a Shanghai shag afterwards is my idea of heaven.. As QWOP will verify <laugh>

Complex county China, the populace just like in Russia have suffered greatly and I dont fear either of them to be honest, the problems are much closer to home imo.

    True fact.

If you put the Chinese population head to toe around the Equator......

The Chinese authorities say they will push to end the rural practice of having strippers perform at funerals.

The culture ministry put out a statement condemning as "uncivilised" habit of inviting exotic dancers to induce more people to attend the funeral, the official news agency Xinhua reports. The ministry named two recent examples where strippers had been invited to stage "obscene performances" - one in north China's Hebei Province and another in east China's Jiangsu. In both cases, both organisers and performers have been punished, it said, adding that it will work with police to stamp out the practice.

Strippers are used to boost funeral attendances because large crowds are seen as a mark of honour for the deceased, and the authorities have previously tried to crack down on the custom - apparently without success. But officials are undeterred. "Having exotic performances of this nature at funerals highlights the trappings of modern life in China, whereby vanity and snobbery prevail over traditions," Xinhua thunders. Many on social media appear unaware of the custom - and are aghast. "I really don't understand how this can be seen as moral," one says, although another sees the funny side: "Strippers at funerals? You're killing me! What kind of trend is this?!"
