Slow day, could do with something to discuss.

Skyscrapers and buildings in general are obviously amazing, so this is thread for pictures of the buildings you think look great. Or conversely if you know some hideous buildings that should never have been built and need to be destroyed ASAP, post them here too so we can all have a good gawk.

I'll start as close to being On Topic as possible with this nice, now disgracefully bulldozed, building that used to stand next to the Monument in Newcastle. Along with a few dozen other amazing old buildings it was paved over to make way for Eldon Square Shopping Mall <doh>. (Middle right in the background)

Deceased Blackett Street Building - Somebody here could probably name this.

I still love the Grand Place in Brussels for it's architecture. It's stunning.

The Burj is just insane really, nothing will beat its height for decades. Nearly 1000feet taller than the 2nd tallest in the world. <laugh> It's a shame its not in a more dense city than Dubai, would help make an amazing skyline.

Awesome! Grand Place is definitely one of the most gorgeous architectural parts of Europe, especially all lit up at night. Had a friend of mine visit once and we led him to it at night down a pretty unsuspecting street (that one with all the greek pita places on it - cant remember the name) and as soon as he stepped out and looked all around him he was actually speechless for a a good 20 seconds. Never seen somebody unable to speak before <laugh> it was great.

I know that reaction. You lead them along the streets to the Grand Place and all is rather dull, run down and modern and THEN... BANG! You turn a corner and it's just so unexpected to have this marvellous square.

You could plonk that straight into Grainger Town and it'd be right at home. That sort of Georgian city architecture is amazing.

You'll notice the bus lane in this photo. A little known fact (that makes all us locals chuckle) is that since the bypass opened 4 years ago... there still isn't a bus route to use this road.

    Traffic jams can be fun.

By the time I'd had 9 or 10 Chimay Blues in the Grand Place with my future son in law I couldn't speak either.

Despite being absolutely in awe of the beauty of it my missus still tapped into her primal instinct of bollocking me.
