Another heavy defeat for England in India - an innings and 64 runs. One bright spot though - Jimmy Anderson reached 700 Test wickets - the first fast bowler to do so.
It certainly is - and it's sobering to think that he was born the day after our first pre-season friendly in our first season in the top flight. I can't imagine there will be too many fast bowlers emulating his feat.
When I first saw Jimmy Anderson in his youth I thought there is another Glen McGrath, he turned out to be even better. 700 wickets, fabulous achievement and he is still only 41!
Wales copping a bit of a hiding from Italy in the Six Nations - losing 7-24 at home with just two minutes left.
Must with Laura Kenny well in her retirement after a spectacular cycling career (and she had my surname )
Most defining sporting moment of the last 30 years, 5live have compiled a list. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/68507536 Which would you go for and should anything else be there? Probably go for the Ashes and Andy Murray winning Wimbledon as that hadn’t happened for a long time. Super Saturday was fantastic too. Guess they all are memorable really!
You know you're old when... Watching the Brisbane Broncos v Nth Queensland Cowboys NRL match this morning - in the 2nd half the Cowboys brought on one of their subs - Jake Granville - and the commentator described him as "a veteran". I used to work with Jake's dad - and remember congratulating him the day Jake was born 35 years ago...
30 years on from the tragic double death of Senna and Roland Ratzenberger at Imola. Remember watching the accidents as a kid. Probably my "first where were you" moments
My nephew's son plays rugby union for a club called Currie in the Tennent's Premiership here in Scotland. At the end of the regular season back in February, his club finished third in the table - and played the second placed club two weeks later for the right to play in the final - a game they won. Somewhat ludicrously, the final is being played today in Edinburgh - two months and a day after the semi-final. I thought the FA suits were bad at organising things - but Scottish Rugby leave them for dead. I've no idea how they expected both sets of players to maintain match fitness for that length of time.
I remember it well, even if it was 70 years ago, and thinking that it was beyond belief. Roger Bannister was the first man to break the four-minute barrier for running the mile. Although the distance is not run so often these days, top athletes with improved tracks and shoes can manage it without collapsing as Bannister did at the end.
