That's not even close to the worst I've seen us play. Leicester are much, much better and were clinical where Liverpool weren't. There must have been at least half a dozen times when a better final ball from Almiron would have led to a chance, and there were three decent chances where there was no player attacking the ball. WIlson was fairly poor, for once. But we are still playing players out of position. Almiron's not a right midfielder, Joelinton's not a left midfielder, Ritchie's not a left back. Why have we got four wide players with one striker? It's mental. Who was supposed to be attacking from midfield? It made no sense. It really is fingers crossed for someone to do something from Bruce.
Bruce bringing on jonjo ended our chances..... He's too slow and tbh his passing isn't even as good as people think... He's simply allowed to try long balls over and over again.
It's been a while since I posted so hope everyone is well! We weren't terrible my any stretch. We had a solid shape for most of the game (although Leicester picked some gaps between our midfield and defence) and worked hard. On the latter (and as against Liverpool) we seemed more proactive than reactive, willing to close down quickly and with intent. I also felt like (as against Liverpool) there was a desire to get forward and score. A few times where in past games we would have passed back, we instead tried a cross or a through ball. We are sorely lacking the right quality in midfield. I like Matty on the ball but any combo of him/Shelvey/Sean/Hayden lacks mobility -someone who can take a ball forward. This needs to be changed. I thought Miggy played well and always wanted the ball but still lacks the quality to beat a man, or find the killer ball. Joelinton holds the ball well and keeps it ticking over but play always seems to slow down with him. The main difference today was that quality and the clinical desire to score. Twice there were balls fizzed into the box (by Yedlin and Shelvey) that Vardy would have got a touch on. We miss Max but these last two games have been better.
Or ....we looked much better when Almiron and Joelinton went off. Brucie's plan, in these recent tough games, play the no hopers for the wild chance of a talent scout somewhere, anywhere, thinking they are worth a punt.
Absolutely this. Ritchie is not even a PL player any more. He is playing LB when his career had been RW. What the actual ****? Miggy (see separate thread for debate about him) is NOT a RW and we are playing our RW at LB? DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE SUBS??????
The clubs hit 4 wide left players and only 1 of them can plsy on the right Almiron Joelinton Maximin Fraser
Jonjo bloody shelvey. He'll go straight back in the side. I'm actually hate the player he's just awful
Lewis will be fine in a wing back role, but stop this ****ing nonsense of thinking Ritchie should be a) at left back, and b) in the team. It's the same with Shelvey. Why are these two on new ****ing contracts? All that's wrong with Brucey right there. Yedlin, Manquillo, Murphy can all play RWB. We only have Lewis at LWB, yet Jetro Willems - who fits into the club, into the style of play and is ****ing FREE - won't be signed. The 3 CB's, with Lascelles and a couple of young lads behind, can really make that 3 CB thing work - hell, Leicester do it well enough. But we have got to put another body in CM - if that means selling both ASM and Almiron to get a decent player or two in that position, so be it. Then get Joelinton up front if he's ever going to be worth half of what we paid, so we can replace him with a proper supporting player.
Personally I feel there's signs of something working, so keep playing that side... 43% possesion vs Leicester thats good.. 7 shots to 9 Ffs don't change anything
please log in to view this image Higher up the pitch is good, but the midfield is not in a great shape for a 2 in the slightest. Wilson not high enough either, but the formation is wrong to offer him support. Matt Ritchie is in a ****ing ridiculous position.
Matt ritchie plays safe and gives his all, but if we still had jetro there in this system we'd a much better side All in all there's signs of inprovement
True test will be against Sheff U, we should win there and if we don't I'll be convinced it's time this manager goes. A draw is not good enough, it's a win or bust and we will see how well this system of play is against opposition like that.
