The BBC is currently running a debate over the top 10 premier league players who could have played for top 6 clubs but didn't: These clubs would be Man Ud, Citeh, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spuds and that team in Fulham called Chelsea. Who in our premier league history could have played in one of these teams: My starter would be Alan McDonald.
Interesting that at the outset of the self proclaimed greatest league in the world in the early 90's the "big" 5 clubs were Liverpool, man Utd, Everton, spurs and arsenal.........by the early naughties Everton and spurs had dropped out of the "big" group and that lot in SW6 brought their way into bigness......it's only been since 2010 that spurs have rejoined along with Qatar city..... Big 6 who cares?
this how the BBC define the Big 6. I just thought this would be a little bit of fun and get us back to discussing football.
Not me. I'm seriously hoping one of them goes bust. They have shafted the greater game for years now and still the greedy players could bring them down. 'Football will eat itself' never sounded so good...
I think our 75-76 team would have held their own in the modern era and the majority were good enough for today's 'big six'. When you consider some of the psychopaths that were in many of the top teams and were given free rein to virtually kneecap skillful players, the fact we were so successful that season is testament to just how good they were. Just their hard luck they were so far ahead of their time in financial terms...
Defo. Austin could always score goals when fit however he does need good service....maybe Andy Sinton to provide the crosses?
