It’s quite surprising how manager Chris Wilder kept his job after that so luckily for him Oxford aren’t in the dizzy heights of the Premiership or he would be looking for another job. The month of October was a bit patchy for the U’s but they went a tad better then the previous month picking up ten points from another possible Eighteen. Closer to the end of the year they started to repeat the form they had at the start of the campaign going eight games unbeaten between November 20th right up to January 12th in this period they picked up Eighteen points which included four victories on the trot. So maybe The Gas are playing them at the right time as it seems there’s a possible dip in form again they have managed only one point from their last nine plus we are owed a victory over them the last being nearly ten years ago which saw The Gas win 2-0 at the Memorial Stadium. It will be interesting to see if James Constable will play he’s still The U’s second top goal scorer with ten that’s two behind Tom Craddock. There’s three ex Gas players to look out for Ryan Clark has mustarded up an impressive 158+ games since joining Oxford in 2009 and has remained there number 1 choice between the sticks in the last few years the others being Sean Rigg who joined from Port Vale in May 2012 and Justin Richards who left the our club way back in 2003 after playing sixteen games without finding the net. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image How Will It Go IMO this game will be a tougher away trip then the previous three games away from home. Oxford has never been the best hunting ground for the Gas down the years (just under 10 years ago) but that said we are all on a high and everyone is buzzing and with a never give up attitude from our players I think we can bring home a point or three. Gasheadseamge’s Final Score Prediction Oxford United 1 – 2 The Gas
What Oxford Fans Are Saying About The Game http://yellowsforum.proboards.com/thread/13004/rovers-saturday
Gas win 1-0 - although it'll be another tough game. Let's hope it's the crap Oxford that turn up - they can be very good, but are inconsistent. Their influential midfielder Peter Leven is out injured which is good news for us
A win be great as 4 points from Cheltenham and Oxford is a great achievement. But I think it will end 1-1 again.
JW Will Only Sign Loans In Case Of Emergency JW elieves he has built a squad capable of avoiding relegation and will only dip into the loan market in case of emergency. Ward recruited six players during January to bolster what was a threadbare squad prior to last Thursday nightâs transfer window deadline. The loan market re-opens for business tomorrow following a seven-day break from all transfer activity, but Ward says the imminent arrival of any more new faces is unlikely. He said: âIâm happy with the squad. The situation at the moment is that we will dip in to the loan market if and when we need to should we pick up a few injuries here and there. We have improved the strength and depth of the squad over January, but if we were to see two or three key players ruled out over the remaining weeks of the season, then it is obviously something weâd look at. âI wonât be looking to do anything imminently because we are quite solid and I donât want to disrupt what we have going here at the moment. âWe have people watching games and assessing what players may be available so that if we need to do something at any time we can do it quite quickly and sensibly.â
Last time I went to Oxford I couldn't get in the Gas end and had to become an Oxford boy. Ha Ha. Very difficult to moan each time we scored!!
Last time I went we lost 6-1 in the league cup and the time before that we won 5-0 at the Manor Ground
Last time I went was the 6-1 hammering, and **** am I going again Hope we can get a win, but I think a draw is likely. Mind you we could end up getting battered again
On league position we should but i think we owe them after getting spanked in recent years by them. I think we will get at least a point.
I was at the Manor ground for that 5-0 - it was blinkin' mental, Cureton scored a hatful - about 4k Gasheads crammed into the away end. Mind you, last time I saw Oxford was last year down the Mem - 0-0 and dull as ditchwater. 1-0 to the Gas!
Yeah it was always packed on that away end every time I went there remember cuckoo lane he had to walk up it to the turnstiles.
Possible Line-ups (evil post) The Gas Mildenhall Smith_Parkes_McChrystal_Brown Anyinsah_Norburn_Clucas_Woodards O'Toole Brunt The U's McCormick Batt_Raynes_Wright_O'Brien Potter_Chapman_Montrose_Rigg Constable_Richards
I reckon Anyinsah might not start. He wasn't that effective on Tuesday and earlier that day I saw him at the Mem. having a bit of a fitness test...lots of running. The bubble will burst sometime but I'll go for 2-2, perhaps even a 1-2 away win for Rovers.
