dealS to be done? more than one, i'll take that ;)

there's cash available, we know that, but how much?

i'm expecting one player in. CB cover, and cover only. Willo will be first team from now on, and why not, the man's a rock. has done everything right so far!

Im expecting someone along the lines of Liam Ridgewell, who i've seen play for a Birmingham a few times when down to see my mate at uni and can honestly see he makes a mistake every game. Seriously.

Got no probs at all with Willo, plenty of teams would like to take him off our hands.

Very happy for him to be our first choice CB alongside Colo for the rest of the season. Very solid.

Slightly harsh that imo. He's always in the thick of it for Brum and seems to get stuck in more than most, it's inevitable he's more likely to make a mistake every game when he does so much for a poor side. I know he's not the most popular target for toon fans but I reckon he'd be a great squad player because he adapts well to playing anywhere across the back four.

I believe the same could have been said about Colo in our relegation season.

Ridgewell is 27, Pardew has said under 26 only. Not that that completely rules him out...

So very true and I hope we do not take this route. Its hard though because you can't go and get a world beater because we can't afford it, we can't go and get a Smaba type because Saylor is our first choice, so you're left with dropping right down in quality to the likes of Ridgewell in the hope they are not needed much, or you get a young one like Tomkins who can be developed. The latter would be my preference all day long.

    I'm still predicting a striker and a combined LB/CB.

Maybe even a young 'un for the future as well (any position).

Big big difference. Colo was still getting to grips with english football, Ridgewell has been brought up on it and is still ****e. He had one half decent spell at Birmingham when Dann/Johnson were going well playing left back and filling in at centre back. He's just sub standard for me.

Pardew said players signed will be 26 or younger and Ridgewell is 27/28 so won't sign him I don't think. Still think we will get Tomkins

Would rather we signed a left back than a centre back if i'm honest. Maybe a CB on loan or something.

Or a centre back and left back :) - I want Tomkins. We defo need a centre back though because if Willo or Colo get injured then we are in the **** again.

Really? We have 3 fit senior full backs and it's a position where others can come in and cover if needed (eg Jonas could cover for a few games), whereas we only have 2 senior centre backs and it is much more specialist.
