Scotty Parker is back at the Cottage as first team coach. Excellent news. http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2018/j...t&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=Social-geoff
Doesn't make any sense to me to put him in as a first team coach after only coaching a Tottenham U-18 team for a season. For me he was part of the problem during our relegation and subsequent struggle. Smells like jobs for the boys type of signing to me. As long as it was Jokanovic's wish then fine, if not it could cause fractures.
This is really the only point that matters. Assuming Jokanovic is fine with it, I am happy to see Parker back. Whilst he was something of a symbol of our decline as a player (as he was old and on the slide when we signed him), I think having a young English coach who came through a London club academy and made the big club move (arguably at the wrong time) is a strong positive for our young players as they come into the first team squad.
The only thing I can think of is that Parker might get the job of Post Match TV interviews, as Slavisa always seems nervous giving those speeches to cameras. There will be a lot more PR work needed from the club now in the Premier.
Well, having spent his last year at the Club on a hefty chunk of wages while away most of the time earning his coaching badges, he owes us something. Strange that the Club's announcement doesn't include any comment from Jokanovic. Trust the Gaffer knew about this.
As a conspiracy cynic,is there some underlining factor in this appointment, ie::Slavi to depart sometime in the near future. ? Most managers normally select their own senior coaching staff, so to me it does seem rather strange..
Do we know if he is a replacement for Stuart Gray ? I thought Stuart has been doing a great job working quietly behind the scenes. I don't under-estimate the the role he has played with the promotion charge. Hopefully he can be accommodated to mutual satisfaction.
I agree that this is only a good thing if Jokanovic is happy with it, but other than that I don't see a down side. Before Parker retired there were loads of people on this site calling for him to be given a role in the coaching set up, He seems to be level-headed and a good pro, rather than an ego-driven monster and the fact that he's taking coaching jobs rather than insisting on starting as a manager somewhere shows that he understands the need to learn his trade in coaching as he did as a player. In short, he's another good character to add to the mix already at the club. On a similar note, anyone else secretly longing for an announcement that there's a role somewhere in the set-up for Zoltan Gera now that he's retired? With his troubled youth and how he overcame that, he could be great working in the academy.
The gaffer put a post on social media yesterday saying he was happy to have Scott back at the club so hopefully a sign he was at least part of the decision process in bringing Parker back.
