Having watched him this season, anybody else agree that he is the best technically gifted player we have ever had? His dribbling at speed ability is phenomenal, his touch on a lot of occasions this season has left me thinking wow straight off your seat when he gets the ball, he just glides past people with ease. Also nutmegs a player at least once every single game. we've had some quality players over the years but for raw technical ability in my opionion he's the best I have ever seen for us.

I agree that Roberts is a skilled operator, however, thankfully I had the pleasure of watching Jim Baxter at Roker Park and he was unquestionably the most talented footballer I've ever witnessed in red & white and that includes Shack. Unfortunately he enjoyed alcohol more than football so his skills were quickly lost to the devil. Such a shame.

Agree about Baxter, what a player he was.
As for Roberts I've said before without Amad, who I think Roberts was in his shadow somewhat I think next season we really will see him at his best of he can repeat his form. Think he can cause absolute chaos if he's got proper central strikers to link up with.

You're absolutely right about Baxter - unfortunately " slim Jim" didn't stay like that for too long!

He's definitely up there with the most talented and he grafts and has end product to go with it. He basically plays like he's still on the playground at school but he makes it effective.

that might be true but we’re talking technical ability not consistency.

Lovely player to watch, absolutely glides over the pitch with the ball never more than about 6 inches off his toes. A very 'natural' footballer, it all looks effortless at times from him.

Would like a few more goals from him though

Personally I think that may be the only thing that let him down last season - he should've scored more goals with the ability he has. Whether that was down to Amad playing roughly the same part of the pitch as him, we'll probably never know but with a striker up front to give him another option I think next season could see him at his absolute best.

I love watching him play but Amad has certainly helped him look good fhis season ...

... Mowbray says he still needs serious coaching, I'd agree.

Never forget watching him towards the end of his time with us. He didn't run round the field, he seemed to glide. However when I saw him the image I have is of his beer belly gliding. Great player .. but I still think Shack was unbelievable.

with all due respect to him, that’s why he’s our player and not a premier league one (yet)

True enough, compared to Clarke he's a bit behind in terms of goals but I reckon with a proper striker pulling defences about and providing space he'll get more joy, his finishing wasn't bad when he got a chance.

Problem was that quite often it was a case of give it Patrick, Jack or Amad and see what they can do and out of the three he was the least lethal. More space and better chances and he'll do well goals wise.

The goal Roberts scored at home to Watford in dying seconds...I honestly thought it must have taken a deflection! The bend/curve and dip was sublime.
