Forest are bigger then us but not by a mile West Ham, Leeds and Forest are the top 3 clubs as in history but at the minute as in potential we are more then match for anyone in this league
We're not really talking about silverware, but the level at which we expect to be competing at with reference to history. Historically we're a yo-yo club between the top flight and second. Hull are a yo-yo club between the second and third tier. You're over-achieving, we're under-achieving, so you should be happy.
West Ham and Leeds fair enough, but apart from an FA Cup win in '59, Forest's success is entire the achievement of one man. Take away the Clough years and Forest and Leicester (and Derby for that matter) have roughly the same fanbase, ground capacity, top flight history and expectations as us. Clough is the difference between Forest and us, it's as simple as that.
Yeah, I was going to add that! I always wonder if we'd had O'Neill in the days when it was possible for a smaller club to compete for the title (like Forest), what we may have achieved...
Take the Don Revie factor out of Leeds and you have a club relatively on a par with Ipswich Town success wise ... such is football.
