You got that Dilla joints album ? J Dilla is one of my all time fave artists/producer/engineer. Absolute genius taken before his time.
Nice little docu about Rick Rubin. Got to know about him through Def Jam, but I didn't realise how much he'd produced since then. Really interesting character
And this https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8_wOh-GTwXTxH3LBIamJvLcpqI9hpjbo Just listenin to this on the headphones while i roll one, big bass line, dirty.
Cheers bru, I'll check that out. Man is a genius. He's come in for some heat coz of his mental health issues and his ultra high profile lifestyle being married to Kim Kardashian. But that ni**a is a true soul man. You ever hear that version of Kayne's no more parties in LA with Freddie Gibbs spittin' over it ? Fkin cold as ice that. Madlib beat that too. Another genius in the game.
And the guitar riff/hook in this tune Ive rated this guy as a producer better than dre for years mate, his discography is actually ridiculous. He made this beat for example, musta been about 17 max
Mate honestly go have a look at his discography as a producer only. Absolute Muhammad ali of hip hop beats imho Heres another Thers way more too i could be here all night mate
Had a listen to that last night. Nice and soulful with some classic old joints in there. Kinda reminded me a bit of this. Really well worked refix of some Lauren Hill/Fugees tracks and Nina Simone.
And whilst we're talking about great producers. This is a must listen. Really great music/docu into the life, influences, and styles of Q-Tip. Anybody into the Native Tongues and hip hop scene of the late 80's 90's. One for @Tel when he's around, about how Q-Tip launched the career of Mobb Deep and engineered loads of their tracks.
