I think it goes beyond hip hop, when was the last album that was great from start to finish, I can only think of one in the last 5 years.
Yes Lawd - Anderson Paak & Knxledge Probs more of a Hip Hop/Soul/Electronic/R&B album. But a banger from start to finish. Edit: That was released in 2016 !
Not many though is the point, the whole music industry is money and marketing a look. The actual music isn't that important to them.
Yup, it's all about singles downloads, image and tik toks as far as I can see. Seems to reflect the modern consumption of media, which is short burst social media led stuff, before moving onto the next thing. The act of sitting down and playing an Album from start to finish, preferably with a good rum and a spliff, seems to be a dying art. Listen to me, I'm a right old fart
Last album i done that with genuinely.. was gnarls barkleys 2nd the odd couple, which i actually hated on first hearing, but after a while of listening to it. Its actually better than St elsewhere One of my faves off the odd couple is storm coming. Proper underrated album. And
I vibe with cee lo tbh He got that old skool mowtown swang to his voice imo. @PINKIE@Tel @Spurlock and maybe @luvgonzo and @Chief might be into it cos they like a bit of old skool hippityhop
Outkast are a brilliant outfit. Andre 3000 is one of the most underrated performers out there imo My fave outkast track One of the best ****in horn melodies ever
And yeah Kelis is a hottie. It was a massive commercial/pop success, but Milkshake was a ****in banger. One of those records that will stay fresh forever.
Was a bit of a sleeper this album. But it's a ****in hip hop/jazz classic imo Think the band changed their name to Crown City Rockers a couple of years after it was released. I managed to kop a copy when they were still called Mission, so I think it's worth a fair bit now too.
