Can't see Rotherham pulling it out of the bag, who would folk rather joined them Wednesday or Derby ? If we don't make it out of here, both teams will offer a threat next season in league one, even with a rebuild in progress which will no doubt have to happen for them. Wednesday for me as it's most likely a bigger away allocation.
Not bothered tbh. I don't think there's much between top and bottom of divisions. We need to focus on putting our failings right. We've been heading in the right direction under KLD and although another season down here ("IF") Will be a blow, we've got the structure and backing to get it right.
Plymouth have 2 defenders out plus a midfielder. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.pl...outh-argyle-vs-sunderland-preview-5362586.amp
Record against Plymouth. https://www.11v11.com/teams/sunderland/tab/opposingTeams/opposition/Plymouth Argyle/
Younger certainly... if he is any good, a 3rd CB, him 09 and Bailey Wright. 2 WBs I would like to see more of Neil, the little I have seen if him he is certainly no worse than Winchester (a LJ signing so has to back him?) Diamond imho brings something to the team.. is he better or worse than Jones/Gooch. Hawke I have not seen so cannot really comment. As long as Wyke is scoring, he plays. LJ brought in 3/4 players in Jan. Stewart was injured initially, but has not impressed much tbh. Jones does show promise but still needs games, loses concentration and forgets to defend now and again. Vokin(?) been injured poor lad. Winchester does not get a run out, if 09 and Power could play in midfield (not defence). We are still not certain of play offs... a win today would be great... Will we get it?????
please log in to view this image Conor McLaughlin, Jack Diamond and Ross Stewart have been named in the starting XI for Sunderland’s Sky Bet League One encounter against Plymouth Argyle. Northern Ireland international McLaughlin features for the first time since facing Charlton Athletic on 10th April, making a timely return amidst the Lads’ ongoing defensive injury crisis. Ross Stewart also lines up against the Pilgrims, with top scorer Charlie Wyke not included in the squad due to a thigh issue. Aiden McGeady also misses out due to swelling to the foot and a broken nose. Sunderland AFC: Burge, McLaughlin, Wright, Power, Gooch, O’Nien, Scowen, Diamond, Jones, Hume, Stewart. Substitutes: Maguire, O’Brien, Matthews, Leadbitter, McFadzean, Winchester, Younger.
that sounds more mobile, let's hope they can get into them from the off, As far as reserves go would like to see Younger and Maguire given at least half an hour
Plymouth team Argyle: 1 Mike Cooper (gk); 8 Joe Edwards (capt), 24 Jerome Opoku, 2 Kelland Watts, 27 Ryan Law; 28 Panutche Camara, 15 Conor Grant, 18 Tyrese Fornah, 10 Danny Mayor; 9 Ryan Hardie, 21 Niall Ennis. Substitutes: 23 Luke McCormick (gk), 14 Ben Reeves, 17 Byron Moore, 19 Klaidi Lolos, 31 Luke Jephcott, 36 Finley Craske, 41 Ollie Tomlinson.
LJ has kept Wyke and Mcgeady being injured secret. Let's hope I am wrong about Stewart and he has a stormer...and scores goals. We might miss the play-offs!!!!!
good, he has been off the boil for a while now, maybe he needs a rest he does get fouled a lot and it takes its toll
Aye, it's a puzzler. Is he going 4-5-1? 3-5-2 with Gooch up top? Younger only on the bench. Missed the perfect opportunity to get both 09 and Power into midfield. Could have used this game to see how Stewart and O'Brien play together. Looks like a cautious line up, so watch us win 4-0!
We could have 3 CBs (McLaughlin, Wright and 09) and 2 WBs Gooch and Hume. CM Scowen and Power... and 2 wingers Jones and Diamond
