it's PIF not the Saudi government buying the club. if you need more info pop over to out board. some of the lads seem to know what's going on. I have absolutely no idea tbh
Just for Chaos ... latest footage from our £100 million new training facilities ... https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/...-news/leicester-city-training-ground--4308717
... just part of the 'grand plan' ... the business model focuses on attracting and then developing young talent ... a tour around this place, when it's finished, for prospective transfers, will certainly help that aspect. If you are as old as me you remember having to sell our best talent each season just to keep our heads above water ... and the very modest training facilities at Belvoir Drive, not far from where I grew up, in the middle of a housing estate ... Where we are now as a club is, quite literally, beyond any Leicester fan's wildest dreams.
Yeah, it’s not like virtually every other PL club once had quite modest trading facilities, often in the middle of housing developments, and have gradually all built new out of town facilities on large largely ex brown field sites. This is great, but it doesn’t give you an advantage over any of the clubs you’re seemingly seeking to compete within the market.
We still have those training grounds, I'm amazed any players ever accept coming to us. However, as the press keep reminding us, we need to be happy that Sir Mike Ashley deigned to drag us up from the slums of the top half of the Premiership.
I didn’t realise that tbh mate, just had a quick look, yeah it’s not good enough. The issue with that kind of investment to a bloke like Ashley is that trying to make a business case for a ROI on a new one, would be a very tough sell imo. We were ahead of the curve a bit with Finch farm, and I remember when we opened it, new players arriving were surprised at that we had a facility of that level.
Not an advantage I agree - but it does help to level the playing field. Demonstrates the level of the club's ambitions and also the investment from the owners that underpins that. Ground expansion also on track according to the local press. However this season ends, it will represent another big step forward for us.
The year after you came from nowhere to win the league you ended up with a net profit of over £90m, the following season this dropped to next to nothing, as your cost base had swelled due to wages purchases etc, but you didn’t have CL revenue. The last set of accounts showed a £20m loss. If you’re going to continue to compete you need to finish in the CL spots this season imo.
Think this is a very valid point. There will be a lot of clubs that previously relied on benevolent owners that will be obliged to cut their costs as the owners may not be in a position to splash out now with their companies struggling in the current climate. King Power seems an obvious company to have been hit hard by the impact of Covid-19 but I am sure there will be many other owners out there whose main businesses will be feeling the pinch. The fall in oil and gas prices will have hit the UAE hard. On top of that Sky clawing back 300million quid of this years money will mean a 15million hit for each club. I suspect there will be a few clubs with quite limited transfer budgets this Summer. Fortunately we will have all the Saudi money flowing in ...................................
No idea how King Power have been impacted but Thailand seems to have handled the pandemic pretty well and they haven't had many casualties ...
Duty Free in all countries has been massively hit through the lack of international travel. The countries that were often least affected were the ones that shut down early and tightly. Thailand is only just about to start allowing international travel again.
Think they'll be fine ... Top just topped () Forbes list of the 5 youngest billionaires in Asia ... we haven't furloughed any club personnel ... brilliant owners
We've already got ours lined up mate... expect Lallana on a free, a forward ... possibly Morelos ... but we have plenty of dosh
