The problem with internet forums is that it is difficult to know when someone if being an ignorant twat or joking. Prague Mackems comment looks racist on here as well, but he might not of been serious either.

I am pretty sure chatnoirs can be reasoned with if you weren't been serious (no reason to think you were).

I joke with my french mates all the time, about surrending, burning of Jean d'arc etc etc and they take the piss out of british food, the english weather etc. all in good fun, but when you're face to face its easily to tell when someone is joking or not.

 

Not joking as such dan, i stand by the fact that in my interactions with the french i have found them to be exactly as i described.

Hence my opinion, based on that, that doesn't make me racist, that makes me a fella with an opinion, which i feel is justified.

Chatsnoirs can kiss my helmet, i couldn't give 2 ****s what he thinks, frankly, but he has annoyed me.

I guess he'll be spinning a yarn everytime someones says 'Geordie's are thick/deluded?

Oh dear, aren't we all entitled to our own opinion? That is all that has been proffered. Whether we choose to accept it or not is down to the individual, but I would say that describing either myself or BruceysBeak (without knowing the lad) as racist and pig-ignorant is a little wide of the mark (how can this be racialist anyway - The French are not a race, are they?)

No-one has described them as stupid, anything but. Anyway, I hold up a white flag. Don't shoot - it's Friday.

The meaning of my post WAS pretty obvious, but racist?

It was a generalisation at worst, do you people even know what racism is?

 

if your own opinion is that the french are slimy, idle and twats then you are being racist - race can describe people from a specific country not just a specific colour.... your opinion is racist in nature, which makes you a racist. if you were not being serious, and were joking then fair enough. if you take your statement seriously then you are a racist.


there are idots/lazy/idle people everywhere, so they not idle cos they are french, there nationality has nothing to do with it.

"the people i work with from france are lazy twats" is an opinion

"the french are lazy twats" is a racist comment

the nuance of language can make a hell of a difference to the meaning of a sentence

I'm fully aware that there are idle people everywhere, but he point i was making referred to the french.

It's more of a valid statement to me, as i am speaking from personal experience, and i will not back down on this.

If i said 'all french people are lazy idle twats', i'd maybe say ok i see your point'

I said ' i have the misfortune to deal with the french on a daily basis, and they are lazy, idle twats'

If you can read english correctly, that reads that the french people i deal with daily are lazy, idle twats.

That is a fact, so i can say it.

The 'lazy idle twats' part is directly linked to the 'deal with on a daily basis'

As a result of this, this is my perception of the french, and shall remain so until i am convinced otherwise, this is based on 7 years experience, so i wont hold my breath.

If anyone wants to insist i'm a racist for this, then they can crack on, as i said, i couldn't give a flying ****e
