For you, "the french" means the French people I work with? It doesn't. It definitely does mean "all the French". I am prepared to concede that what you wrote was racist, by the rules of English grammar, but that it didn't reflect your true feelings. To get back to Gray and Keys, I'm sure they didn't "feel" what they said was "sexist" but it was the words they used that had to be denounced just as I had to denounce the words you used.
Re Malbranque: my daughter was born in Evian, France, but she is not French. She is Anglo-Spanish by me and my wife. I believe it is only the U.S.A. and Libya that practice "jus soli", the right to citizenship by the territory on which you are born.

A bit OTT mate, we have had over 3,300 posts so far and this is one were we have a bit of a tiff in the family, it will happen. Do you really want to go back to heavy moderation, to find your post is pulled and you dont know why and are not allowed to ask. This is our forum and I think so far, looking at the number of posts and the amount of members we are doing OK. You also have some great tools, you can stop all swearing at the click of a mouse, if you find a members views to be out of order you can complain or simply press the ignore button.
