Punter of the Year Betting Competition. For the purists. Very simple. You start in the Premier League with an advance of £1,000 and you may bet in any of the races in UK and Ireland plus selected overseas races (see below). Singles only (win, ew, place, Tote win and/or place). NB You must state the amount you are staking. If the amount of stake stated is more than the balance available in your account the stake will be reduced to the whole of the remaining balance. Any bets quoting "all in" without an amount will be processed as all of the remaining balance or the highest stake previously recorded on the account, whichever is the smaller Bets will be settled at SP unless early odds are taken (use best prices quoted on Oddschecker here). BOG will apply to bets placed on the day or the evening before; they will not however apply to antepost bets. All non ante post bets will be subject to NRNB. Standard rules apply for dead heats. Rule 4 is ignored Selected overseas races. You may also bet in overseas races displayed on Oddschecker under Featured Horse Racing or the ATR ante post odds Leagues There are just 2 Leagues, the Premier and Non Premier. All players with an advance of £1,000 will be placed in the Premier. Players with advances exceeding £1,000 will be placed in the Non Premier Relegations When someone loses all of their initial £1,000 advance, or has all or some of it tied up in ante post bets, leaving a balance of zero, they will be suspended from betting until the start of the following month. The loss will be carried over and a further £1,000 advanced to enable them to continue placing bets. Promotions At the end of each month players in the Non Premier with a balance exceeding £1,000 may repay £1,000 of their advances. If that leaves them with a net advance of £1,000 they will be placed back into the Premier. However, they may chose to not be promoted if doing so would leave them with a balance of less than £1,000 For the purposes of this competition all place bets will be at 1/4 odds and will apply as follows: 4 runners or less No place betting allowed 5-7 runners 1st and 2nd one quarter the odds 8+ runners 1st, 2nd and 3rd one quarter odds Handicaps 16 or more runners 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th one quarter odds Handicaps 25 or more runners 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th one quarter odds Number of runners for determining odds will be the number that came under starters orders regardless of whether or not they took part NB Please do not edit selections. Any changes to be made by replying to original post. Thanks and good luck all. At the end of the year the one with the biggest profit wins. If there comes a point when only 1 is left with any profit, they will be deemed the winner and the competition will be closed. To take part in this competition entrants need to register their interest by 31st January 2018
I'll have a go Ron, but I may well declare after Aintree if I've got anything left, otherwise I would blow the lot on a Stoute 2Y0 at Redcar
Yes please Ron. That's my idea of a realistic competition. Should suit the top judges too!!! Cheers and good luck with it.
I support all comps if possible Ron I realise you haven't gone into detail too much, but one thing springs to mind - you would have to have a cut-off point for joining in. But good luck, I'm in
Why would you need a cut off point? The idea is you have £1000 for the year to bet when you want on what you want so having a cut off surely forces your hand into having a bet maybe before you want to.
Well as I understand it that's fair game. You can use your £1000 as you like so if you only want one bet in the whole year then fair enough. During jumps season I barely have a bet as it's ****e. I do scoop 6 on a Saturday with a mate but that's pretty much it apart from Cheltenham and that's a minefield. So for my £1000 I'd probably be waiting until the proper racing starts so a cut off would probably exclude me from the comp if that's the plan
I know what you mean Smoky, and it's highly possible that I would "keep my powder dry" for a while, but even if I did slam it all on some nag in the later stages, at least you'd know I'd been playing my hand as I had pre-registered. But It's Ron's idea, so I guess we'll just have to abide by his rules
I suppose the easiest solution would be for people to declare their participation so at least we know at some point they intend to bet rather than leaving it open and people just popping up randomly. I guess that's what you probably had in mind with your original post so I've just taken myself full circle so I'll shut up now haha
I understand. Cut off date for declaration is 31st Jan. But no cut off date for bets. Even though the cut off date for declaration is 4 weeks away, bets can be placed from hereon in
This comp is for the likes of Der Kaiser going off last night's remarks. I'm all for losing 1000 -in Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
