I really like this lad. Positional sense is good, positive in possession and aggressive without it. He's fun to watch.
I'm not impressed with Garner either. Throws himself to the ground a lot looking for free kicks but other than that, he's not been very good today. Waghorn should lead the line. Dids makes some good runs with the ball and gets around defenders but then makes poor decisions in the final third.
I just dont get why you would play a striker out wide when you have a really good winger on the bench!
I blame Mick 100% for that defeat, he still has his favourites and plays them even if he has to play them out of position! Celina should have started! Why play a striker out wide when you have a natural winger on the bench? Why take off your best player? Why leave it until the last 15 to make changes when you are 2 down? P!ss poor management imo!
So that was it then. Entertaining game but a poor result. McG up front with Garner and Waggers either side didn't work. Connolly had a good debut but we lost possession off quite a few of his attacking throw-ins. Iorfa and Spence had good games in the centre of defence, Iorfa especially was good today. Won all his headers and covered well. Knudsen was ok, wouldn't surprise me if he was leading the assists stats now. Ward can be dropped, he's ineffectual and powderpuff in the middle, maybe try him out wide again. Adeyemi and Downes in the middle for me. Celina out wide but we still have a problem filling the right wing berth. We did get in a few times in the first half only for it to be called offside, which was frustrating because we nearly sprung the trap on a couple of occasions if it wasn't for somebody not concentrating. My line-up for the next game (choosing from those available today) would be .................Bart Connolly Spence Iorfa Knudsen .................Skuse ......Downes Adeyemi Celina ................McG ....................Waggers
I think Ward is talented but like all the midfielders we've had in his time he's had the football ground out of him
