How many times have you said "we're top of the league" today? Back on it again this Saturday against Wigan, at home. Wigan sit 17th in the table with 5 wins, 4 draws and 6 losses. Their top scorer is Will Keane, with 6 goals so far this season. Having worked under Paul Cook, as his assistant, Leam Richardson was appointed permanent manager in April 2021 after a short stint working under John Sheridan. They have lost four of their last five, only beating Blackburn on October 11th. As for us, rumours about Beale's imminent departure didn't seem to affect the team last night. Really solid and dominant performance, and a splendid 3-0 win. Felt like, potentially, the team were playing to try and convince him to stay, and I hope he does. Why leave a team on the up. Even without Willock we are looking threatening, dominating teams and scoring goals. It is so enjoyable to watch. Dykes' two goals last night took him to 5 for the season, just one behind Willock. Most encouragingly though, a few players would have got on the score sheet last night. I guess we will find out about Beale in the next day or so, but here's hoping that he'll feel compelled to stay and continue what he has started. Team News QPR: Tyler Roberts (calf) returns after sitting out in midweek. Chris Willock and Jimmy Dunne remain sidelined. Wigan: Callum Lang is a doubt after being forced off in the midweek defeat to Middlesbrough. Pre-match Talk Mick Beale (QPR head coach): “I think this is going to be a tough game. Wigan's away form this year has been particularly good - Leam Richardson has stepped up as a first-time manager and is doing really well. “They've had some eye-catching results and once again, we have to bring the best version of ourselves. The passion and energy in the stadium on Wednesday night showed we're a united club.” Leam Richardson (Wigan manager): “We go to the new league leaders on Saturday, less than 72 hours after Middlesbrough. “We can either take time to dissect it (Boro defeat), or we can take accountability for it, roll up our sleeves and do something about it.” Enjoy if you can make it, and as always...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
And he's staying with us according to numerous media outlets inc Sky and WLS, as I've posted on the Beale thread.
I'm like Dave - a smile like a Cheshire cat! I keep looking at the table and can't believe we're sitting at the top!! I keep checking just to see if it's for real Amazed that the results went in our favour last night to keep us there - Brum and Cov definitely did us a favour. Just goes to show how tough this leage is. I think the boys will be flying after going top and hanging on to Beale. Poor Wigan
I'd say the old girl will be rocking on Saturday........ just what we need..... Playing great football...... Top of the League....... pinch me!!!!!! A manager with integrity that believes in his players and staff and they believe in him........ These sort of things don't normally happen to us.......
Yep, Wigan got best away recordin league. Having said that , we need to be burying them at home. Come on u rrrr's, end them. Start the beast up top again with Lyndon
Where are all those who just wanted mid-table mediocrity? We need a losing run if we’re going to achieve that. But not happening this Saturday.
The mood is certainly very positive but we need to stay focused and keep our feet on the ground. We must manage our expectations. I would not be surprised if the Wigan match will be tough. They would love to frustrate us and with this current atmosphere, it is very possible. The Championship is a long marathon where consistency of results are the key. I would be pleased with a boring 1-0 on Saturday. COYR’s!!!
Before the game London and Sinton were saying we were 4 3 3, but during it they admitted it was more a 4 3 1 2 which was how it looked on the stream with Chair behind Dykes and Armstrong. Dykes and Armstrong looked good together too I thought.
Nice one Dave Potential banana skin this one - hope the lads repay Beales faith in them and smash the Pie Eaters
Am pleased to see that the better half of our supporters are in good form and are even more enthusiastic and willing to support Mick Beale and his Blue and White Army.
True. When optimism is so high, then inevitably we land with a bump. However, I would love to be at Loftus Road this Saturday. I am sure the place will be rocking!
