Magnificent keeper and a complete gentleman. I was privileged to meet him on two occasions. RIP Ray Clemence.

323 clean sheets in 665 appearances. Quite something.
I don't know how many Shilton kept, and no doubt I'm biased, but I thought Clemence was the better keeper and it was disappointing for him that he didn't get to play for England more often.

Can't find how many clean sheets Shilton had in his 1,005 games.

Don't think it's a relevant stat though, clean sheets really depends on the team in front of them too.

    Yeah, I know.
Shilton was a good keeper, but imo he was favoured because of a perceived greater athleticism (he jumped around a lot) - Clemence had better anticipation and positioning.

Before my time tbh. I recall Shilton from Italia 90 onwards but never saw Clemence.

Shilton got his big success at forest no? I felt shilton was way past it playing for england in the later years.

Shilton always struck me as similar to seaman. seaman's best years were miles behind him playing for england by the end. We all probably saw seaman's best years in the 1990s. and by even 1998 he was past it.

Shilton was madness by the end. I can remember 1990 world cup and was it 1994. the guy was geriatric.
