If I recall it right Jeff, it was the proverbial game of two halves. I might have to revisit the matchday thread on that one mate. ( Just to check that the old memory box is still intact. )
Thankfully the memory is still working okay. For 35 minutes we were superb and then in the 36th minute, Lumley had a mare trying to play out from the back and passing it straight to one of their players and Luton pulled one back to make it 3-1. We were cruising until then. https://www.not606.com/threads/qpr-vs-luton-town.377311/
Oh Boy......Now this is what I call football....something for the youngsters to appreciate why us oldens always harp back to this season...... https://www.qpr.co.uk/videos/highlights/rangers-rewind-197576-season-review/
Hard to watch that without thinking we'll never see the like of that again. Even the ground was so alive and buzzing. Just so lucky to have seen that team grow through the 70s...
That was my first season - didn't go to many games as I was only 6 or 7, but what an introduction to our club - been hooked ever since!
To be honest that rewind seemed to confirm we are and were at our worst in front of the cameras even back then! The 5-0 away win at then Champions Derby, the 3-0 win at Spurs which I remember well from the kicking I got every time we scored and on which Gerry Francis mentioned his goals, the 2-1 at Newcastle when I think Stanley got the winner very late on, and other great performances remain not shown. Even the home win against Arsenal, the had to win penultimate game had only the goals. Yet our defeats at Leeds and Liverpool and struggles at the likes of Coventry, and home to Spurs got extended cover.
Mrs went shopping yesterday and got some cherries. Got me thinking, Tjaronn Cherry - remember him? I reckon we were a bit gutted to see him go to the Chinese Super League. Anyway, according to Wikipedia it looks like we was a bit of a flop - 1 goal in an 27 games before being loaned out and then transferred to Maccabi Haifa. Seems perversely satisfying that an apparently decent player can be a success at QPR and be unsuccessful elsewhere. It’s more often the other way around. Maybe a Where R They Now thread for departed players might be interesting?
Historic moment on Rewind this week, our 1967 League Cup win in the first ever League Cup Final to be played at Wembley...….although I was there I don't remember much about it, too young to take it all in but do remember my late father in tears of joy at the end...…. Also showing the 2014 home game against the Baggies...... UR'sssssss
Bump...…. Stoke Home and Away this weekend on the offish...…..6 points, smashing goals, lovely football a joy to watch...….what more do we want eh?
