Rangers v Celtic

Nobody who wants paid back anytime soon.

 

Rangers over the oast four to five years have being going through a period of essential accelerated growth. This explains the discrepancy between income and expenditure. It's pretty common practice in new business models. It's not sustainable but it was never meant to be.

Year on year in this period Rangers income has steadily risen and so has the value of the assets on the pitch. Now we are in a position where many of those assets are extremely sellable and the product is very profitable so the next few years, all going well, will see the end of the acceleration and move to a more sustainable business model. Everything is now in place for that to happen and there is no debt outwith personal loans of directors to speak of.

Celtic on the other hand have major problems. Their income has plummeted. Their sellable assets are few and far between. They need a total rebuild of pretty much the whole footballing structure with in the club and they have alienated much of their largest cash donators,.the season ticket holders. 80 million pounds a year running costs is more than every other SPFL club put together.

Now that is what you call unsustainable!
