I don't think we would win that argument. If he goes he plays wherever that is. I also don't think it would be in his own interest to put in poor performances if he stayed either. Why would he want to discourage other clubs from signing him. I don't think he is that kind as a person either.
Rumour elsewhere and also mentioned on the Preston board....so we're told ? That Conor Grant could be about to sign for Preston....Ryan Lowe has always been a fan. Would be surprised....others commented that he would be too slow for success at Championship level. We would miss his occasional goals....but I'm sure we could replace him easier than if we lost Michael Cooper or Panutche Camara this summer.
Conor Grant is a rock within this Argyle team; a 7 out of 10 Steady Eddy each week. His left foot is a wand. I agree pace isn't his strong point but don't dismiss good players so easily.
I don't particularly want any of the players to go but would say that if any do then the Club will go on and nobody at all is not replaceable. I trust this lot to recruit as and when needed and do it well. I also trust their judgement in playing our youth when necessary. If Conor goes then he goes. Thanks and we move on and I would be that pragmatic about any of them.
Fraser Forster has left Southampton on a free transfer to Spurs. Will this mean that Southampton will be looking for a second keeper ???
Talk of interest in Matt Butcher 25yr old... 6ft 2 in... midfielder....now a free agent from Accrington Stanley.
INCOMING.....Matt Butcher...6ft 2in..25 yr old...midfielder....has signed a 2yr contract.....from Accrington where he couldn't agree a new contract.
Matt Butcher came over well on his video interview. Today is the start of pre-season training.....I assume Panutche Camara will be there.....we know of nothing regarding any offers for him.
Just reading the blurb in the 'Erald: he's known to both Argyle under-18s head coach Darren Way (who managed him at Yeovil) and Argyle assistant boss Mark Hughes (team-mate at Accrington). That helps..... https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/sport/football/plymouth-argyle-reveal-accrington-stanley-7231391
So pre-season training has started....fitness levels have been ascertained....but as yet only one new player has been brought in....Matt Butcher a midfielder....looks okay....although he won't be upping the goals scored from mid-field....looking at his scoring record over his career. Of course we don't know if others have been contacted to join....and refused....or if there is someone coming next week....when contracts generally come to an end. Without any signs of any players leaving... other then George Cooper possibly going to Chesterfield....we assume that Michael Coopers is still our stopper....and Panutche Camara seemingly having no buyers is still our Mr Duracell Bunny....we still have the foundations of our defence and mid-field from last season......we just need some more punch amongst the scorers.....I'm not confident that Jephcott and Hardie have enough goals between them to push us on for another promotion push.
MK Dons are rapidly losing their best players. They've lost Harry, Darling, surely the most assured CB in League 1, to Swansea and Scott Twine, who scored 4 against us including a world class free kick, to relegated Burnley..
Sounds as if we have lined up our next signing......Mickel Miller 26 yr old...5ft 8in....Eng/jamaican... forward/left winger. Fast and has a good delivery from the wing.....but not too many goals scored.
Just watched a few interviews on Argyle TV. Matt Butcher was asked which players he admired and modelled himself on as a lad. He names Frank Lampard - 647 senior club games scoring 193 goals from midfield and 108 England caps, scoring 29 times. Nothing like setting your sights high.....! It seems he then finished first in the flat out 1km run of Day 1 of training. A good start!
