at least for a couple of seasons as a tribute..people say theres no room for sentiment, but a bit of respect doesnt go a miss!
It would be nice if no one got it this season, especially if its just someone on a short term loan but in long term it should go to our first midfielder next season. ( I think first choice team should be 1-11 personally but hey im old fashiond.)
To be honest I don't like the idea of retiring shirts, I think it's an American thing from basketball? Although I know it does happen here now too like at QPR.
we should do something, he handed in a transfer request because he felt he had no choice, id prefer to remember the 3 promotions...
they could just retire the actualnumber 4 shrts what ahsbee wore but then get some new ones for the new number 4 player so nobody would have to wear his old ones.
Did I read the story wrong, has Ashbee popped his clogs? I thought he'd just decided to move on to a club where they were willing to give a contract! Don't get me wrong he's a legend at City but retiring the number 4 shirt!! bit over the top.
I think if he'd left in less acrimonious circumstances you might have more support for this. If Ashbee had announced a decision to retire and you'd asked this question a month ago then i think the .cast majority of the fans would say "yes". After he has basically chucked his toys out of the pram because his mates gone out on loan and his old boss wants him back, I'd say no. Its not that he doesn't deserve it and i will give him the warmest of welcomes when he comes back to the KC along with Browny, but its like he's cut his nose off to spite his face with a move like this. I still firmly believe that Ashbee will be our manager one day and if he acheives as much in that role as he did as a captain he should get a stand named after him or a statue outside the ground. Egg Chasers wouldn't like it though, ah well **** em!
ooohhhhh i wondered why you've been coming out with strange things recently, it's now clear that you are in fact a complete ****tard. Fair enough
He has a different opinion to everyone. He might be genuinely deluded or he might just need the attention, who knows, and honestly who cares? He's funny.
We didn't offer him a contract extension, and I'm told didn't plan to. What would you do - no job in 6 months and little chance of getting a deal when released? If someone you know & trust came in with an 18 month deal on decent money then you'd go. We didn't give him a choice & I as a fan feel shortchanged that the farewell Ashbee should get at the KC will come when he's wearing a PNE shirt. Bit shabby really, we should be better than this. Good luck Ian, the Tigers will however continue to go from strength to strenth this season. UTT
thank you for the glowing bigup! did you know that there was a plane called spirit of st louis and it wasnt a tiger moth? lots of people dont know that.
