I would scrap looking for a cm. Surely Koren can fulfil the Danns role? Priorities goalkeepers x 2 Left Winger Another centre half Another forward (slightly better than Adebola) 5 signing on top of what we've allegedly already made, and we're there. Probably see one of the keeper slots, centre half and forward as a 'loan', although NP seems to work on the basis of try before you buy. Any more Leicester players he liked that may be pushed further down the pecking list that he'd consider? Wellens - someone else suggested? Weale - did he rate the Leicester stopper? It's a bit of a ****ter identifying Danns, and revealing to the press he was our number one target, only for the midlands gob ****es to sign him. Spending lots doesn't guarantee success and West Ham or Leicester will probably prove me wrong come May 2012!!!
I think if we make the 3 signing expected we will only see 2-3 more after that. A keeper (probably 2) and a winger.
We haven't a prayer of signing Richie Wellens, he's Leicester's player of the year and they'd want millions for him. I think we will see two keepers, a centre back and a winger, possibly more dependant on outgoings.
I think when we sign Hobbs and McKenna we will have a lot more solidity in our team again, after loosing Ashbee we had none of that last season. I think another defender we will get in on a possible loan, but as we know from last year we may need another one. With Stewart out till possibly october we need another winger to create the opportunities for Fryatt, and possibly another striker which we could get on loan. There are plenty of GK up for grabs and I think we need to make sure we get the right one that will fit in well with our team. With the team which we have now, this would be my line up Oxley Rosenoir Hobbs Chester Dudgeon ----------------oly-------------------- Koren-----Bullard -----Evans-- ------------Stewart--------------- ----Simpson ---- Fryatt-------- Looks a good team to me, its always going to be where are we going to play Koren, he needs to be in the team, after seing that video of the sum up of last season he scored/assist most of our goals last season, cracking player. If we still have Bullard and Oly, play em. will be great to see. Up the tigers!
i think that the loan market in August / Sept is going to be more indicative of the strength of the team for next season
I can't speak for Sven, but personally I'd put Danns on the wing, he's regularly played there before.
Could Oxley be our back up keeper? I've never seen him play but surely if we are paying him and keeping him he must be of a decent standard. If so then we only need one experienced keeper and maybe another young one to learn his trade from the academy
I'm sure we'll aim to bring in two keepers, Oxley is still young and has almost no league football experience, he'll only be used in emergencies.
I would go along with 2 Gk, 1 CB, 2 Wingers, on top of our alledged signings This would give us: GK 1/GK 2 Dudgeon/Dawson Chester/Cooper Ayala/Hobbs Rosenior/ **Evans/Chester/Hobbs providing cover Koren/ New Winger (loan) McCann/Harper Evans/Cairney Stewart/Devitt (plus another loan winger for more cover while Stewart regains fitness) Fryatt/Adebola Simpson/McClean/Cullen Not a bad squad at all, did pretty well last season given our crap start. If only we can learn to win at home ** I have assumed that Bullard, Oli, McShane, Kilbane and Ghilas will be moved on **
I think we should send oxley out on loan to a league 1 or 2 side, get him some first team experience.
Ha oops forgot about Devitt! He's a handy player, thought his delivery into the danger area was great at times last season.
I'm still surprised we haven't heard anything about Atkinson, I thought we'd have released him by now. AP really likes apparently, I'm not sure why, he's 23 this year and just doesn't look good enough to me(Devitt and Emerton are both better).
I like Devitt. Atkinson? Not so much, but he's looked alright (at best). Would it be worth keeping him? I don't think so, not at 23 years old.
Devitt looks like he has the quality to be a good player for us. Atkinson I'm not so sure about. He had a couple of games where he looked decent, but faded very fast; usually a sign he isn't good enough for this league. I would think he will go to Rochdale when his contract is up.
