    RIP Colin a real fan

    Farewell, Colin
A great football man will be laid to rest today in Glasgow. Colin Weir was a EuroMillions lottery winner who donated a substantial share of his £161million windfall to his favourite club Partick Thistle.

As a result, at the time of his passing aged 72, the club had no debt and an impressive youth academy. Weir's majority shareholding is to be gifted to the supporters, too.

A stand of the Energy Check Stadium at Firhill bears the name of benefactor Colin Weir
'A Scottish patriot, philanthropist and Jags man to the end,' read the club's statement.

Weir will pay a final visit to Firhill this morning, his cortege stopping at the ground before a service at Partick Burgh Hall. May he receive the send-off he deserves.

Watch him on Heartbeat every Saturday night here. Perfect in the role as the obnoxious police sergeant. Great actor. RIP Derek. I'll be remembering you next Saturday.

He's not pining, he's passed on. He is no more. He has ceased to be. He's expired and gone to meet his maker. He's a stiff. Bereft of life, He rests in peace! If he was nailed to the perch he wouldn't be pushing up the daisies. His metabolic processes are now history. He's off the twig, he's kicked the bucket, he's shuffled of his mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible.

    RIP Terry Jones.

Terry Jones. Pure brilliance. Nearly died laughing at the Life of Brian and loved the Pythons. Class among bleeding mediocrity we had to put up with. Best song to end a film ever. Biggus dickus and Silius Soddus best directing I have ever laughed at. A true genius passes.

Like a lot of my age group, I probably know the script of Life of Brian off by heart.Backwards even.

Brian: To his mum (Jones), YOU MEAN YOU WERE RAPED?

Brian's mum: WELL.... AT FIRST YES <laugh>

Always look on the bright side of death <applause>

Brilliant sketch, though not actually one that Terry Jones was involved with.

So sad, so many memories and so many laughs. I saw the Pythons live at Brasenose College (Oxford) in the early seventies, they were briliant. I watched the TV show religiously every week, I think it was on Thursday after Top of The Pops. Can't wait to hear the words of Cleese, Palin and Idle ... sure to be respectfully disrespectful. RIP Terry.

    Edit:
Osibisa were on the same bill as the Pythons at the Brasenose Summer Ball. Both were horribly late and I was pissed on champagne but I remember it all so well. Went punting in evening wear at day break, more champagne and then bed with a Swiss miss who shot me down in flames. Brilliant days and brilliant memories.

I remember my Dad going absolutely ballistic at the Miner/playwright sketch and wanting to turn off the telly because it was too silly. He just couldn’t accept that being a playwright was harder than mining. I nearly pissed in my pants laughing. Gold dust.
