Mourinho losing gives me a sense of jubilation that cannot truly be described. Losing his first ever European final playing in such a dour and negative way, against a manager who’d never won a top-flight honour before, makes it all the more sweeter. Huge congratulations to Sevilla for a 7th Europa League triumph. Some teams just have an aura in certain competitions. They frequently seem to find a way to take this trophy home.
That's strange, I thought that he won every final he was in charge of, judging by the discourse on here...
IMHO the reasons are due to La Liga. Specially the : 1. average technical competence of teams in that league is quite high 2. EL participants are not usually involved in a title fight, nor anything vaguely like the PL top 4 dogfight so I contend that #1 means the team has what it takes to deal with all but the very big fish in UEFA land (who are rarely in the EL) , and #2 means your squad is unlikely to have been under extreme physical stress by the business end of the season. Edit : I could include (courtesy of Roo) the Spurs "factor" .
It also does have to be said that Sevilla are having a pretty poor season, with them currently sitting in 11th, so they had to go all in on the EL if they wanted European football next season
I see managers "everywhere" are fighting to avoid coming to Tottenham. Is it because our players are mostly crap now? Answers on toilet paper please!
Mourinho had another whinge about Spurs last week. He's since lost to Fiorentina after leading until the 84th minute and lost a cup final after leading. It would be a real shame if Roma blew their last league game, wouldn't it?
It looks like Gundogan is leaving in the summer to be replaced by Kovacic from Chelsea. Good player, but can he fill those boots? Scores some massive goals for them.
Not a chance. It’s a good player replacing a world class one. It’d be similar to us replacing Kane with say Ollie Watkins, I’ve been a big fan of the latter for years but he’d have no chance replacing Kane outright.
Today is definitely a ref case of if you tie a slice of buttered bread to the back of a cat, and drop the cat, which of the cats' feet or the bread slice will touch the ground.
