I thought I would create this thread as it looks like a 2 horse race (despite the last result) and it looks like mercedes have a very good chance of winning all the remaining races. So I thought I would keep track of the situation race by race and we can see what each driver needs to do to achieve the WDC!! Currently Rosberg leads the championship over Hamilton with 7 races gone:

Driver Aus Mal Bah Chi Spa Mon Can Atr GBR GER Hun Bel Ita Sin Jap Rus Usa Bra Adb Total

Rosberg 25 18 18 18 18 25 18 140

Hamilton 0 25 25 25 25 18 0 118

So far Rosberg has a 22 point lead which would take hamilton 4 more wins (if rosberg finishes 2nd) to retake the lead. - If rosberg wants to win the championship he only needs to win 5 more races and finish 2nd in all the remaining races (including abu Dhabi double). He would then win by 1point!! (if Hamilton finishes 2nd and wins the others) - Hamilton needs to win in abu dhabi plus 7 other races (8 wins) - If Rosberg wins 3 more races then wins in abu dhabi he will then again win by 1 point ::::::::::::lease add any other stats::::::::::::
Way too early for this. All it takes is a single DNF for Rosberg and a simultaneous Hamilton win, for the WDC lead to swap again. Too many possibilities at thus stage.
Perfect place for all the crazy Pro and Anti Hamilton comments to go without littering up a perfectly suitable F1 forum to discuss the others drivers on the grid that make up the sport.
Technically Westy's Law is broken in the title! If containment can be had in here, then it will benefit the rest of the forum. however, I feel this thread will be the Fukishima of the F1 board. No matter how hard you try and keep the bad waste in, some of it will leak out and spread.
Its not a containment thread!!!!! It is just a statistical blog folowing the run in to the championship. which could proove very interesting as it will be the most even, (minamally) undisturbed inhouse 2 horse race in F1 history.
Lewis Hamilton is he greatest driver in the history of Formula one and deserves to win the championship this year because he is better than Rosberg who is a journeyman and rubbish.
I'm just laying out both sides of the argument, for balance. Probably a good illustration of why balance is not necessarily desirable!

Rosberg will have a DNF at some point. Then again, so might Hamilton. Will it come down to DNFs in the end? Remember the two DNFs Ham has had have resulted in a 64 point swing (Ham has lost 50 points and Ros has gained 14). Without DNFs Ham would be 35 points ahead. So anything can change.
This. If Rosberg goes the season without any DNF's, then there is little Hamilton can do as realistically he won't win all the remaining races (assuming he has no more DNF's either). Whilst a lot will jump up and be gleeful that Hamilton won't have won the WDC with the best car, ultimately it wouldn't be his fault this time as what can he do about dodgy sparkplugs and mid-race brake failures? When they have both finished, Rosberg has only beaten him twice.
There is more to winning races than simply driving fast, you have to look after your car and keep your head, two areas where Pramilton is particularly weak. He broke his car in Canada and is being led by a slightly above average team-mate.If he doesn't win the championship in the best car, yes it is his fault.
