Whose stupid idea was it to stick an international friendly in this week, by the way? How have we ended up playing Thursday, Sunday, internationals on Wednesday and then Chelsea on Saturday? Ridiculous planning.
They have to fit them in somewhere to give teams chance to prepare and this week is a rare blank midweek across Europe. Personally, holding the view that international football should work around club football, I'd make them wait until late May/early June to play their friendlies rather than disrupt the club season. Which fans would want to risk their star players at club level being fatigued (or worse still injured) in the cause of their national side? Hands up now.
