I think it’s important when reading these stories to remember that real, ordinary people are being affected by political or religiously motivated violence and it’s not their fault that they live under Putin’s regime - they only get fed the information that their government wants them to hear.
In no way is this post trying to justify the Russian abomination in the Ukraine - but this is a human outrage.
    They didn’t deserve this. RIP.<rose>

Absolutely, the two things are completely separate. These were never normal people who went out to enjoy themselves. Their nationality is immaterial.

A situation like this is tragic beyond belief no matter where, or to whom, it happens due to it's senselessness and brutality. The people affected by this tragedy are just regular folk going out for an evening's entertainment and deserve our respect during their own personal loss and suffering and my thoughts are with them and their families. <rose>

However the other side of the Russian equation needs to be brought up because Putin told the population that Ukraine was the biggest threat to Russian security, but now will he ever explain exactly who was behind this attack or will he lie again to blame it on Zelensky and his generals? Are the Russian people getting enough news to find out that Putin has lied all along the way in regard to the special operation against a hostile country that has cost tens of thousands of lives on both sides, combined with infrastructure damages that will take decades to repair? Could this attack be a catalyst for the Russian people to start asking some difficult questions of Putin in regard to the absolute lies he has made up to justify his war with Ukraine or will he wriggle out of it somehow? Although this Moscow attack will rattle a lot of cages it is almost certainly in reprisal for Putin's support of Assad and his dictatorial assault on ISIS along with some other areas where he has used to hone his troops for the big fight which my yet occur. Historians amongst us will remember that Hitler used the Spanish Civil War to train the Luftwaffe on how to bomb unprotected cities such as Guernica as a warm up for WW2 and Mussolini did the same in Africa. The world is a complete mess and it would be nice if the troublemakers cooled their heels and asked their individual peoples what they would want for their countries, but it will never happen in my lifetime. <peacedove><peacedove>

Unfortunately, it won't be portrayed as that by the Putin regime in Russia - the AI generated deepfake video interviews have already started.
