So which wide players from today's game should be in the squad then? Who is actually playing wide ? Is it how listed above? I though slattery was a central player ?
Might it also be a case that u23 defenders are poorer at defending crosses than most premier league defenses ?
Doesn't affect the quality of the crosses. Its Tyreke Johnson doing many of the good ones, he went on the pre season tour.
There may be an element of truth, in what you say, but from my point of view a lot of the crosses have been in the area where even seasoned defenders would struggle to keep them out.
More competition on that side unfortunately. Sounds like they are playing like orthodox wingers rather than cutting inside like most wide players do at the moment
Good to hear. I am only theorising as I am not watching And in fairness (stereotyping here) you would expect a u23 team from a smaller club to be made up of English players and English teams still pick their central defenders in the mold of the guy who has always been the biggest kid in the playground to head it away - and got lucky and kept growing throughout school...
Shame he didn't take the first team along so they could see what those rectangular netted things are for...
Different class tonight, Reading didn't have the benefit of a Hojpoj or a Targett that ran the show. Plenty to admire, Marcus Barnes seems to have grown a few inches, looks a bit raw and leggy, but I am sure can be coached in to being a very good player. Tyreke on the other hand seems to have shrunk, but is a handful that the Reading defence had no answer for. Nice to see big Mac back and keeping a clean sheet. No complaints it was a nice way to spend an evening and the price was right.
