Southampton unable to break down a very anti-football west brom so far. don’t let that distract you from the fact whichever of these two that get through to the final will play very differently and try to seize that occasion, especially if they are (likely) to come in as underdogs.
Certainly looks like the gap between 5/6th place and the two teams who just missed out was significant in terms of quality.
To be fair, quite a few of us thought it would go down to the last game of the season against Southampton. We just thought it would be in the regular season and not the play off final.
3rd beats 6th by 4 goals = +4 4th beats 5th by 2 goals = +2 Therefore 3rd beats 4th by 2 That’s my algorithm for the day.
No surprise given the two finalists have been able to operate on pl budgets. Norwich and wba miles behind the two finalists. I’m amazed at the attitude of a lot of our fans across social media who seem to think we’re virtually certainties to win this. I see it as a 50/50 game and they certainly know how to beat us.
Yep Eire, they’ve done us twice this season and both wins were fair. We’re the ones who need to step up here and solve a problem. Playing great against Norwich is good for confidence but it’s not a blueprint for Southampton. They’d be slight favourites for me.
If both teams play like they did in the second legs, we’ve got this. It’s probably going to be down to which players hold their nerves at Wembley
The 2nd win wasn't fair, just 8 days to for us to get over the QPR thrashing and then having to watch Ipswich twice was draining. I do like how we pretended to be so bad in that final game though to get expectations down a bit for the playoffs, it's got us a day out at Wembley at the very least.
